Here's a link to the grey model at the Manhattan Space. It seems you can't sit in it.

Yep, that's why I wrote that statement above, as I went to the Manhattan space just to touch with my eyes, lol. The new grey R2 is more likely to be production-ready than the earlier white version. This time, I'll just wait to see one near the space near me and not shlep to Manhattan.
I am sure the blueprints for the new factory and contracts are already finalized. It typically takes 1 year to build a plant and perhaps another 3-4 months for testing production intent vehicles and then another 3 months to build and ship the vehicles over to you. Let's hope in early 2026...
With VW and Rivian's partnership becoming more and more serious why not start building R3x at VW's new Scout facility in S. Carolina? Other than building Scout's the plant is designed to handle contract manufacturing for other makes. It can be retooled to handle the R3x before 2027 and then once...
1)The facility is already built. 2) The facility is designed to handle other makes. Just because Scout is coming out in 2027 that doesn't mean it can't build other models.

The 2027 waiting period is ridiculous. Now that Rivian and VW have teamed up, why doesn't Rivian build their R3/R3X lineup at the new VW Scout facility in S. Carolina? The plant is intended to do contract manufacturing.
I am not sure why many of the startups build their most expensive vehicle first. The R2 should have come out first and then the R3 and finally the more expensive models.
At least let us sit in the R2. :)
With the wait and not being able to sit in R2/R3/R3x is kind of a big tease.
The expo is now doing a special offer where you buy 2 tix for the price of one. But we might be forced to pay for parking. :(
I went to the NYC Space last Friday the day they were hosting both R3x/R2. The rep mentioned they would have both cars at Citifield(CF). Don't shoot the messenger if It turns out to be wrong. I might go to CF to see both. They are both amazing products.
I drove 1 1/2 hours and got there around 11:30 am. Yes, the designers did a wonderful job. I sat in the R1 for reference and also was blown by the comfortable fit and finish. The 2 and 3 will just be smaller. I have a reservation on the 2 but I really like 3.
