Seems like the age of self driving will be upon us in the next two years...

Impressive speed from a trimotor.
Interesting that it's only single motor up front because I thought it had to be in the wheels....
Never thought much about this but 22kwh each day is higher than I thought it would use... Hope optical chips become reality sooner than later...

This article on HW4+ is amusing...and not a surprise. AI models need increasing amounts of memory to be better...
I doubt they'd build microfactories to upgrade the old Teslas...refund or upgrade incentive is more likely...

There are actually something like 150 automakers in China...kinda nuts if ask me 😮
But that's also what forces them to be competitive and why Xiaomi being profitible after two years is quite a feat while the others are living on borrowed time burning their IPO money...
I haven't heard stories...
Was a comment about Ford saying the world would end because they can't compete.
But also, I haven't seen any American EV competitive with what BMW and MB just released...
And I have a friend who works at GM's EV group.. They're trying but pretty far behind...
Impressed at how German companies quietly built next gen EV platforms (including MB/BMW) instead of whining and pushing tariff walls like US old school automakers have been doing...
FWIW, that's out of security updates... Should be replacing phones when they stop getting security updates.
They used to do it only for 3 years but most are up to 7 now so it's worth an upgrade. And you'll like the battery life of the new ones a lot better 🙂
I thought it was an amusing article too.
The electric range rover also doesn't have lockers... Just tweaked hill descent and snow modes..

Probably won't matter for most people but I haven't seen this mentioned:

Hoping Rivian has that moment with the R2.
400k cars needs to do it for Xiaomi though:

Her work is her "home" for the EV in that case.
The point is you need a charging "home base" you charge at for nearly free with the condo/apt caveat.
Otherwise, it gets more painful...can still be dealt with by doing DCFC (more time/$$) but not as easily as w/ that home base.
Heavily depends on home charging too.
If you don't have a home garage, live in an apartment or condo, live in an area with cold weather (charging in freezing weather is slowww).... It's not quite ready yet.
With the solid state batteries that will be released in a few years, EVs should work...

Take it with a grain of salt because it's tech crunch but interesting bit from the Uber filing that I didn't see mentioned anywhere else...
Rode in a few on a business trip in LA and they were pretty impressive. Felt very human and Lidar can see better than human eyes (it seemed to look around corners fairly well).
There's a display inside that shows you what it sees...
I'd say they were better mannered and more careful than a lot...
