Definitely less so about carplay, moreso about allowing an easy capability for screen mirroring outside of a subscription, that's all. Everything else, super valid and fair ?
Valid! I was referencing that I had a standard feature that was taken away, and I was unaware that it would occur (completely my fault). I guess it was a silly assumption that i'd be able to use the massive 21" screen to control my music like what's standard on most other cars without a separate...
Nah not at all - there's simply no need to pay for a separate data plan to mirror my phone audio to the car interface, as proven by android/apple car play for the past ~8 years. This should be free and available, AND if they want to have a subscription service for a data plan for other shit, so...
Yes, but this is the point. The phone has a data plan - correct! But the car doesn't, and it works!! If someone just acknowledge this part I feel like this thread could have ended super quickly ?

"Rivian has announced at least 20 times by now they are not interested in phone mirroring which is what you're asking for. You CAN stream music over your phone and the skip track buttons do work when you do so. This wasn't a...
Luckily we only leased, and to be fair, we didn't know they'd remove this capability several months after leasing ??♂️ . I'm not upset that this isn't CarPlay, just annoyed that the capability to interact with an app doesn't work over bluetooth, but rather requires a separate subscription fee
I realize I'm being pedantic and that Hotspot is still an option, but also frustrated myself at this for a $90k car. I'm just venting on my behalf of my wife who is ready to pay out our lease just to get a different car haha
I don't need a separate data plan for CarPlay and I can still use Spotify in my 2016 4Runner and select songs from our touchscreen, playlists, etc. That's what I'm getting at.
I love the infotainment screen in our '24 R1S, but I'm in disbelief that we can no longer use the Spotify/music apps on the infotainment screen unless we pay for Connect+. Now, you have to control the playlist, music etc on your phone (Yes, I know you can fast forward, rewind, etc on the screen...
