  1. Someone, talk me out of dumping my R1T

I added a second deep cycle lithium battery in the spare wheel area. Rivian replaced my 12v a few months ago proactively and never said anything, I always just leave the second battery connected. I think this may be a good idea for anyone who is worried about the 12v battery.
  2. If you say you are driving in Sport mode all the time, you are lying!!

It depends on your tires and the weight you are carrying. I have the 20” AT’s and often use sport mode with the soft suspension setting especially when I am by myself. If I load up the family or have a really bumpy road I’ll adjust it to a medium suspension or raise it up /AP mode.
  3. 2025 Tri R1S with A/T or 2026 Tri R1S w/o A/T??

To me the R1S is an adventure vehicle you can take most anywhere. So even if I only off-road 5% of the time, I don’t want to be worried about a flat tire when I am 20 miles from the nearest paved road with my family. As for looks, 20” AT all day, it’s how it is supposed to look. As for the ride...
  4. 2025.34.30 Sound Change

Well if you are happy with the system you have then no need to change it. I had the regular stock system and the sound quality was so bad that I immediately had to replace it. A good system transforms the vehicle, night and day difference.
  5. 2025.34.30 Sound Change

I have a full aftermarket sound system with 13 inch sub. After the update I immediately adjusted the bass on the EQ and on my bass wheel. Clarity sounds even better to me now but the bass was definitely turned down on the most recent update. IMHO just need to update the full system, it’s my...
  6. DIY Tire Rotation?

I went to do the same thing, ended up sending my kids away as jacking up the control arm isn’t that stable. Also I found out Rivian stripped one of the original lug nuts on at the factory so I ended up driving to Rivian with missing lugs but luckily they replaced the rotor for me under...
  7. Charging options in Big Bear or near big bear city

I believe so but half the time I was there the gate was open. If someone is going skiing it might be worth paying for parking. For Big Bear you just need to charge at the bottom of the hill before getting there and you should be able to stay up there at least a week without charging. For...
  8. Charging options in Big Bear or near big bear city

There are several level 2 chargers at the Hilton in Big Bear now.
  9. Apple Music and "Premium" Audio Issues on R1T Gen 2 (Software 2025.18.30)

Sounds like a glitch with the Apple Music which will probably be fixed in a month. As for the audio quality, when I picked up my Gen 2 almost a year ago I immediately knew there was no fixing the audio quality and had the whole system replaced. A good sound system completely transforms the car...
  10. Question for Large+ pack owners - how's your experience been?

I purchased a Large+ at the end of August last year. I was really happy when I got it because it was actually letting me use the whole max pack for about a month. I would drive for well over an hour at 100% charge. Unfortunately they fixed that bug. There are a few advantages: you can leave...
  11. Airport Parking Severe Range Loss despite Transport Mode

I have a Gen2 and the worst drain I have seen was up in the mountains with temperatures around 0-10 degrees, I was losing 7% a day with no driving. I believe this has improved with updates but I haven’t seen the temperature that low again to test it. Other than that which was right after the...
  12. Update 2025.06 on a Dual Motor w/ Performance Package purchased & unlocked.

If Rivian gave 665hp in AP mode there would be less reason to upgrade. While Tri and Quad motor versions are amazing the Dual Motor Performance is hard to beat as best combo for the money / power and efficiency.
  13. Gen 2 Premium Sound EQ - Post Your Settings

Of course, Audio Dreams in La Verne. I would definitely go with them, they did a very professional install and definitely know what they are doing!
  14. RIvian internal announcement: Software upgrade from Dual to Dual Performance available in 2024

PDM is definitely faster at highway speeds, I was surprised when I first tried it, I was on the speed limiter right after merging onto the highway.
  15. Terrible Gen2 Stereo / Audio?

Yeah, very happy with it. As far as updates I haven’t noticed anything. The original amps and head unit are all the same, the stock amp is now just used as a low level line out. I suppose worst case if Rivian made a change I didn’t like to the settings I could have it re-tuned.
  16. Terrible Gen2 Stereo / Audio?

3 Way Focals Front / Rear, JL DSP AMP VX 600/6, JL SUB AMP VX 1000/1 with a 13” JL shallow mount sub along with an extra battery. Everything is wired into the stock head unit. Nothing is noticeable as it’s all mounted in the spare tire area. You can modify to your liking but it really...
  17. Terrible Gen2 Stereo / Audio?

Let’s put it this way, if you care about the audio at all you’re going to need to go aftermarket. I switched from a Plaid model S and it doesn’t compare (I have a gen 2), I have also heard the Meridian system which would probably be acceptable to a lot of people but the gen 2 stereo is...
  18. Random Rivian Photos of the Day - Post Yours! 📸

Testing the new Rivian at Sequoia National Park
  19. Driver+/Autonomy cannot be trusted in heavy traffic – just got into an accident with a slow merging truck

The self driving is getting better but with Rivian you do have to be careful and pay attention. Coming from Tesla FSD I really trusted self driving. My first week in the Rivian and the self driving just disconnected on a turn in the freeway, luckily I caught the wheel as I started to fly...
