Wow that's quite an adventure and I see how the range saved you. Does having the trailer attached reduce or impact the range in anyway? Does the Rivain's range calculator take the extra weight into account vs Google? Is that why the two disagree? I'm just curious
The range can be a life saver...
Yes. We're going through the buy back process and will get a replacement Rivian 2025. Because this is a replacement it will go through a special inspection.
We thought about EV9 quite seriously but no dog mode, negligible frunk and space would not work for us. It doesn't have equivalent range...
From your post and mine about Buy Back, i'm learning that the Gen 1 worked very well. We too had a Gen 1 loaner and didn't have a single problem in our entire 400 miles trip during the holidays after our new R1S Dual Max Gen 2 went into service in the same week we got it brand new!
Its crazy...
Thanks much. Waiting to have a conversation with Rivian after submitting the paperwork. In the mean time researching other options.
Any opinions on Lucid? We saw one today and looked it up. https://lucidmotors.com/
Thanks for sharing your experience with 3 Rivains. Wow.
We are no longer considering the Ex90. It was the only other option in Dec 2024 when we picked Rivian over it because they had no inventory, the lease and trade in offer was terrible, and the dealership knew nothing about the car to show...
Thanks for sharing your experience. My understanding is the profile confusion issue leads to other computer module issues when it happens repeatedly and had to deal with proximity of two profile and also car parked in driveway. They had to tow ours to fix 12v issues cos it just died completely...
Very good considerations you point out. And we did check reviews of Volvo EX90 and some say service experience is a nightmare cos the dealer has no clue how to fix the issue.
Also, as you point out, I would love to understand why a small percentage of vehicles have a serious problems. I'd also...
We've had a lot of unpredictable issues in the first 6 months. Except yours sounds worse than ours. Rivian attempted to fix each time so we didn't involve Lemon. But we did request but back and are in the same decision making process as you.
We requested and qualified for the buy back, where...
Thankfully autopilot is not a priority for us. We still trust our own driving than a machines. That said if I'm not feeling well enough I'll skip driving and stay home if that's an option. I see very minimal cases of the need for autopilot for our driving. But good to know either way.
Ok we should agree to disagree. You are ok with the 'inconvenience' of being stranded on the highway with doors not unlocking and you and your family inside the car. Then you have a pretty low bar for safety. Too bad that the Rivian quality control seems in line with that low grade quality...
The Kia story is a good one. I just wish that Rivian makes some changes that greatly improve their quality and reliability. For the price range they're competing in, one should expect higher quality and service.
And you're right, we feel something is wrong when you're made to feel like having...
I agree with all your points except that what happened to us creating high stress situations with the Rivian needing to get towed, cameras not working when it was brand new, and the software totally stopped working in the first week or purchase.. these are not 'inconveniences'. Being stranded...
Yes we are just starting the buy back process. The email they sent us after evaluating our case mentions replacement and we are considering that option. This is why I made this post. We do love the car and the features. It's just been a very disappointing and stressful new car experience until...
First time Rivian buyer in Dec 2024..We are at our limits of owning a new Rivian which started having problems within days of getting a new one and it's been to service already thrice. The joy of a new car and a fancy long range EV has been lost for us.
The third time, just 6 months in, it just...
Yes its sorted for now. But given this was a brake issue we feel very nervous about driving around and reading that other thread reveals such issues can actually happen.
@HaveBlue That didn't happen to us because we couldn't start to Rivian but if we had somehow been able to start it we may have had that same issue. Very, scary!
Hello,
Last Saturday after spending a nice afternoon in SF with our 3 dogs, we piled back into our R1S 2025, and the brake was super hard, we couldn't start the car. Software restart only made the battery show 0%It had 149 miles still and we only had to go 20 to get back home. We called support...
This is a problem for us too! So we turned off the unlock at home location (separate option within proximity locking at Home) but it does automatically lock which is important but doesn't unlock after that. When I actually want it to unlock the app totally sucks! So I've started using the key...
When we first got our R1S Dual Max in Nov we signed into Alexa. We had a lot of the same issues you described. The maps wouldn't work, the app was stuck on top of the screen. We had started to face other issues with the new car in the first week and had to do hard resets to fix that. The Alexa...
