Got it to work fine once I pulled the R1 into the garage all the way so the opener was effectively above it. Success! Thanks again everyone.

Yes I’ve got a sync/learn button, and door height adjustments too. I’m trying to see if one push of the button suffices or if two pushes are necessary to get the blinking light. And pulling into the garage is exactly what I’m going to do today. Thank you for the welcome advice.
