Well this just happened to me today. I was at a park, after reading this thread I'm guessing the sun melted the adhesive. The trim was lifting up I thought I had attached it and on my drive home the wind ripped the entire piece off.

Thanks for posting this, just received the fatcats in the mail today and was trying to find if I could use T-bolts instead of the straps that came with them. The pics and the link were helpful.
