  1. Questions for people who have switched from Tesla to Rivian [ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS / NO ELON DISCUSSIONS]

I switched from a 2018 Model 3 to a 2025 R1S. The Rivian has much nicer interior and is much more comfortable. That alone would keep me from switching back to Tesla. The biggest negative of any non-Tesla EV is that the V2 superchargers are not compatible. If you rely on the Tesla charging...
  2. R2 will be my first EV, so what L2 charger should I get?

As noted, I have had no problems in years of plugging into a dedicated outlet. The only issue I have had was with the GM charger I purchased for my first electric vehicle, a 2011 Chevy Volt. The charger shorted out after a couple of years.
  3. R2 will be my first EV, so what L2 charger should I get?

Why spend money on a charger? I have used the OEM cord on my Tesla and Rivian plugged into a 240 outlet. In over 10 years I have had no problems.
  4. Shout out to OKC service

I had a similar experience. I had to drive 300 miles to OKC for a windshield replacement. They did a thorough inspection and fixed other issues. I was provided a loaner (Chevy Silverado EV) to drive back home. I ended up keeping the loaner for a week since the repair was completed just before...
  5. Firmware Update results in reduced range

I have watched the estimated range go up daily since the recalibration. It started at 260 before the firmware update. It dropped to 220, but is now up to 254. I have not had a chance to take it on the road and test it. However, I hope it is more accurate.

  7. Firmware Update results in reduced range

Revision 2025.46.0 was installed at the service center. This is apparently the reason for the reduced estimate of range. However, the release notes make no mention of a change in the estimate of range. BTW, thanks for the referral to Rivian Roamer. I have signed up. It gives great information.
  8. Firmware Update results in reduced range

I have tried contacting the Service Center, but they closed the message thread when the service was complete. I will have to open a new service request to get in contact with anyone. That is a minor complaint that I have about Rivian. The Service Center personnel were great to work with. They...
  9. Firmware Update results in reduced range

Thanks for the replies. I have learned through 15 years of driving electric vehicles that you cannot rely on the estimated range on the dashboard. The navigation system is better, but as I found out last week, you need to allow more battery capacity than it does. That leads to the probable...
  10. Firmware Update results in reduced range

The weather doesn’t appear to have anything to do with the change in expected range. We have had 70* weather all week. The battery shows 220 miles range every morning when it showed 260 a few weeks ago when the weather was cold.
  11. Firmware Update results in reduced range

I have a 2025 R1S Dual Motor with the standard LFP battery. I have always had 260 miles of expected range with a full charge. Last week I drove my Rivian to the Oklahoma City Service Center for a new windshield and warranty repairs. The navigation system planned for me to stop at the Rivian...
  12. Just bought a R1S Dual Max Battery today - Former Tesla Owner - Which charger adapters recommended?

Agreed. I charge 99% of the time at home and usually go on regular routes when traveling out of town. I will have to make adjustments until new generation superchargers are in place. I have had less than favorable results with any other networks.
  13. Just bought a R1S Dual Max Battery today - Former Tesla Owner - Which charger adapters recommended?

Thanks for the info. I am waiting on delivery of my new R1S and haven’t tried charging yet. I am coming from a Tesla and have been spoiled by the ease and convenience of the supercharger network. I live in a remote area and was unhappy to find that superchargers that I have relied on are not...
  14. Just bought a R1S Dual Max Battery today - Former Tesla Owner - Which charger adapters recommended?

Are there any adapters that provide access to V1 or V2 Tesla superchargers? The Lectron Vortex is only compatible with V3 and V4.
  15. Leases got worse today!!

I just signed the lease agreement on my new R1S that will be delivered to my house on Tuesday. I have never leased a vehicle before, but this deal was too good to pass up. They applied the $7500 tax credit to the lease payments and my monthly payments, after applying the trade-in, are less...
  16. Leases got worse today!!

$6500 plus TT&L, “acquisition fee” and “other fees”. About $11k at closing which I thought would be covered by my trade-in. Instead, the trade-in reduced the monthly lease payments to a very small amount. Still a very good deal because of the tax rebate.
  17. Leases got worse today!!

I leased a new R1S on Saturday. Sunday was the last day to lock in the special lease rates. I changed the delivery on Monday and my lease payments doubled since they thought the contract was made after the cutoff date. I got it worked out and confirmed the lower lease payments. There may be...
