Your comment reminded me of Tesla's windows, which automatically roll up a tad bit just as you close the door. I’ve always wondered about this, and I think it must be related to the cabin pressure.
I know that this issue has been raised before where the R1S rear door passenger doors are much more difficult to close, and that re-alignment can be done (but this comes with a caveat!).
First of all, I had this issue and requested service. The tech asked me to test closing the rear door with...
Good to know! Nice data (coming from a scientist 😆) demonstrating the singular effect of temp on efficiency. It looks like 60°F+ is optimal for reaching the EPA range/efficiency. I am saving your graph for my own reference.
I agree that the battery temp is critical. The problem is it is a parameter that we can’t manually adjust (I don’t even think we can toggle the pre-conditioning on/off manually unless we put in a charging station). So IMO, probably the biggest contributor to battery temp is ambient temp.
Thank you for posting it again. My first time seeing it. A couple questions about ur graph just so I am interpreting it correctly: 1) what is each data point represent (eg., the first graph, R1T gen 2, you have 11 data pts on the graph, is each point a trip taken at that particular temp for 165...
The question for me is under what condition can one achieve their MSRP range. It is never clear to me. At least for me, it is comforting to know that the conditions/parameters + whatever confounding factors that I am driving, that efficiency is achievable! It’s just my first test. As long as I...
Completely forgot about the wheels (such an important one)! I just added that to my original post. Speed is a difficult one to control IMO. I drive freeway/city to work, so 50/50.
Hi all, I am trying to collect data on how different drive modes affect range using real-world data, which I hope to share at the end. To start, I will share my own data from the past 150 miles below as part of the "100+ mile range efficiency challenge." To achieve the MSRP range of 410 miles...
I ordered mine mid-Feb when it has a 1-6 wks window. It got scheduled a couple days later. So from ordering to delivery is ~4 wks. Yours is on a super fast track with 1 wk ETA!! Did you get a scheduled date or you are still waiting?Typically the delivery team will send you a text with the date...
Sure thing. There is a more comprehensive checklist that Rivian uses, but it is too comprehensive for my taste, and something you just have to trust that the team did their job. In any case, here is my checklist:
Exterior:
Cosmetic check: Look for scratches, dents, and dings
Air gaps: People...
You are correct! It is El Cap Granite. As you can see, my old Tesla Model Y also had a Stealth wrap. Comparing the two, this factory wrap did a much better job in terms of covering the corners, around the mirrors (without creases; my Tesla had a weird crease), and around the doors seams. I am...

After reviewing all the forums related to Rivian over the past two months, I decided to share my experience to help ease the anxiety of prospective owners. I had prepared a...
