The stated range with a full battery (225) and at 80% (175) are perfectly consistent with my conservative calculations of the range for highway driving at 70 mph and the EPA estimated range of 330. That is....no surprise here.
What I don't understand is how the range is cut by yet another 80%...
Yep, could be mistaken. What I also recall, but apparently can't be certain where I saw this, is a recommendation that when using conserve mode, to set the suspension to standard height to reduce uneven tire wear, and thus to keep only the RWD aspect. Has anyone else come across this advice?
Interesting test. Thanks. Any concern with driving entirely in "conserve mode?" I've read that it is tough on the tires. In fact, unless I'm mistaken, I think the manual recommends using it only when needing to conserve power in getting to a charging station beyond the remaining range.
This is a bit off base, but raises a question for me about "bugs" that appear in the early production models. How long does it typically take for the most egregious bugs to be eliminated? I received an order date this afternoon of September - October, and thought, eh, maybe some of the worst...
Thanks for the feedback. I know choosing "launch edition" mattered, but I wondered if the configuration also factored into timing of invitation. Still waiting........
Do you think they really will contact everyone on the reservation list by the and of June????
I have saved a configuraion for the R2 in my account. How important is this in determining when Rivian reaches out to me to place an order? Am I "stuck" with this configuration or can I change it, and will this affect my order date?
I find myself in need of a car to tide me over until my number comes up in the queue for the R2. I'm thinking of buying a used R1S. I would trade in the R1S for the R2 when the time comes. I will wait to hear about my place in the queue in June before acting. But, if I can't place an order for a...
I was at the Denver event and my impression is that photos don't do justice to the interior. In person, the interior is quite attractive, especially with the stitching, which hardly comes through in photos. A beauty of a machine inside and out.
Agree completely. The employee who gave me the $3k quote was clear there were other components included in the package, but wasn't clear whether one had to buy the package or could just opt for the tires separately. Let's see.
He, too, was absolutely sold on the 20" ATs.
A representative at the Denver unveiling of the R2 told me the 20" AT was an option for $3k extra. He mentioned undercoating as well, and so maybe the $3k was for the 20" tires and other improvements as well. He was not clear on this.
If Palo Alto is anything like Denver, you will need to prioritize the measurements you want, otherwise your time to sit in the car will be over before you get halfway through the measurements list. It was a great time. Good vibes, as you can imagine.
Ok, I had.my marching orders and was ready to comply. The place was packed. Half hour or more wait to get up close to the car. Once there, time clock started.
What I can report is that there is plenty of room in the back for my border collie, no problem stepping into the car, I am 6.4 and didnt...
Yes, joking. I thought about a (-: at the end, but then thought it was probably unnecessary.
I am in Denver to see the R2 up front and personal. If anyone has questions I can get answers to tomorrow and post on the Forum, let me know. A payback, of sorts, for causing all this fuss.
Lesson learned. Sorry if my post made anyone as worried as me about missing out. I knew the Forum discussants would have the answer, just didn't know they'd be so hard on me and AI.
My post on the Forum WAS for independent verification. But, can I trust the responses? Perhaps everyone here desperately wants an R2 LE as well, and so aren't being truthful with me. Competition, eh?
Nope, not that gullible. But, I'm keenly interested in the R2 (leaving for Denver today to see it in person), and don't want anything, including failing to plunk down an additional $100, to interfere with me getting it.
I forget, now, the simple Google search that I typed in, but in the AI answer was a vague statement like "there are several sources that suggest if you are interested in the Launch Edition, you need to indicate this in the Rivian email and put down an additional $100 to secure this choice."
I...
