In case you're curious, the procedure for replacing the battery with the revised bracket is called "FSAM-1635". The procedure document can be found here. Rivian officially diagnosed the cause of my failed update as "12V Battery was causing communication issues for update".

Be careful with a hard reboot for this update failing. I did this last week (Rivian support on the phone, directing me to do so) with my Gen2 R1S in the garage and it bricked. Totally dead. Tow truck had to drag it out. If this ever happens again, I'll do the reboot with the truck parked...

There appears to be an emerging issue with the 12V batteries in Gen2 vehicles.

That's the extra weird part. I had it plugged in while the 12V system was still operational. Even now with the 12V system jumped it won't initiate a charge. The HV battery was ~65% when I performed the reset, so perhaps something is wrong with the HV-LV charger. Thank you. Realllly frustrating.
