One more update. Dropped off the vehicle and it took a day longer than expected. They did give me UBER credits for the entire time they had it. Charged me $400 for taking the running boards off, and did not put them back on - just loaded them into the back of the R1S. Got the vehicle...
It's just maddening that you get inconsistent anwers depending on the day and the person you talk to. While I love the running boards, it's not going to work if I have to go through this every time they have to jack up the vehicle for some reason. Strongly considering leaving them off.
Well, guess what - Rivian Service Center in Dallas just reversed course again. Now saying they can only remove, and will not re-install, and asked me about the star-shaped heads on the bolts that hold the running boards on. Very unhappy. Service center rep told me it is Rivian policy...
Update: Called local SC again, got a different person, and they have agreed to do the service but will charge $200.00 to take off, and $200.00 to put back on again.
