Rivian had my new truck in for alignment and QC issues. For them to align the vehicle 4 times (and I was there to pick it up the same day it was declared ready, they screwed it up every time and it still is not aligned), replace 4 tires, 1 wheel (all declared defective by Rivian), and align the...
I'll do some more experimenting with modes and get back to you but I am relatively confident it is tied to regen, or at least regen level. The pull to the right intensifies when regen braking, and the SC itself said that higher regen will create more pull. Re-posting what the SC explained it as...
Will try out some different variables but the talk track from the SC was that higher regen = more pull because of the lack of a LSD on the front motor.
North DFW, Plano/Frisco/Propser area
I picked up the vehicle and the issues are still present. The SC was firm that they consider the vehicle in spec and that they will not do any further work, despite the fact that they replaced a wheel, tires, road force balanced it at least twice, aligned it 5 times, etc during the 3+ weeks it...
This is where I'm not sure where the mechanical design ends and the safety fault begins. The adaptive suspension + regen you can't turn off seems like a bad combo.
The regional manager is chalking that up to inexperienced techs that required coaching. I pushed them on that and they said the alignment sweep is being done incorrectly so the initial toe shows off.
I have all the alignment records to document the issue persisting. But this is an exhausting...
Update: I asked for feedback as to why the vehicle pull to the right is considered in spec, this is what I received. To me, this does not seem like an acceptable answer as a vehicle should not pull while braking:
"The secondary concern on drifting, particularly while slowing utilizing...
Update: The regional manager drove it on Monday and said my R1T was one of the smoothest she's driven. This is what each employee has told me, even prior to the vehicle to the service team finding out it needed a wheel and all 4 tires replaced due to them being defective and not able to be...
Rivian has told me this is normal as, to paraphrase, “if you put a truck back on the rack right after you put it on you’ll get different numbers.” The amount of times I’ve been told the vehicle driving as it has is “in spec” is very frustrating and not confidence inspiring.
I’ve been pushing...
I don't have the first alignment that was done but these are the 2nd (left) and 3rd (right), there might have been a 4th that was done as well. But there was maybe 50 miles of driving between these.
No clue, they have not shared with me much what was done. I was told my vehicle was "thoroughly inspected" and that it only needed an alignment and yet here we are....
The truck has been at Rivian for over 2 weeks, I haven't accepted it back. I've been told three times now that the vehicle is repaired and drives great only for the same issues that were present on arrival to persist, and then Rivian accepts the truck back for service.
I'm not interested in...
That's what I'm wondering too, the fact that the vehicle will pull to one side makes me think it's an issue of power being distributed.
I've already exceeded the repair attempts for a safety issue and if the diff/motor needs to be replaced I'll very likely exceed 30 days out of service. So I'm...
I agree, but the service center has said everything is in spec following each alignment. Then we go on a test drive and they go "oh well it shouldn't do that" and it goes back in for service. It has been a very frustrating process.
There's also a disconnect between what is told to me in person...
I understand this but I've told them what my day to day driving is in and they cannot align it to those specs. I think this is a specific issue with my vehicle, if this was truly the norm Rivian would have a much bigger issue on their hands.
Thanks for the context. They have aligned it multiple times but it exhibits the same issue every time. I've pushed to explore mechanical options, but they've also closed the ticket 3 times for me to come pick it up and it is the same, if not worse, every time.
