I specifically checked the OP's flair to make sure he's talking about the R1S. Obviously, it's different with the truck since there's no enclosed storage behind the backseats. But I'm glad you got a kick out of it.
I think this makes a huge difference. I specifically checked the OP's flair to make sure he drives an R1S before I commented earlier that a majority of people probably don't use the frunk as much as he does.
I'm guessing you're a rare outlier who uses the frunk that often. That's a bummer for you, but I doubt 90% of owners will be in their frunk more than weekly. Rivian had to make a lot of decisions to lower the cost and complexity of the R2 so they could meet volume and price targets, and the...
I'd love to know the length of the R2 at its absolute longest, when the rear gate is raising and lowering. That's gonna be a factor in how far you need to pull into the garage, or even if some people will be able to open the gate when they're parked inside.
I'm not sure where I am on the list (I reserved one in Nov 2024), but I'm hoping they'll keep selling the LE to anyone who agrees to buy one during the initial run.
The price between a Premium with similar specs as the Launch Edition is so negligible that I'm leaning toward the LE now. The Premium won't make a lot of sense until the LE goes away and reverts to the standard Performance.
Pulling the EX30 from the US was about tariffs, not really a reflection of Volvo's commitment. They're still selling EX30s around the world.
The EX60 is compelling to me. I like Volvo styling and technology, but for people interested in hauling things and people around in their mid-sized SUV...
The R2 is longer than the Slate truck and much longer than the Telo truck, which both have working prototypes of trucks that people want to buy. As you alluded to, the Telo does use a drop-down midgate to be able to fit 4x8 sheets of plywood in the bed without sticking out the back.
Not to be that guy, but I've been saying this since RJ spoke at the earnings call. But people keep telling me he was only talking about trim levels, not new form factors. I guess time will tell, but it sure sounded like they were planning something like an R2T.
During the call, they mentioned variants of the R2 and R3 would be produced in Georgia, which I took to mean a small truck. Maybe just wishful thinking on my end, but that's what immediately popped into my noggin.
Yeah, I didn't think the Chicago events were a total disaster, but I hope Rivian learns a lesson that if they've only got three R2s to show they need to put them in a single location that can hold hundreds of people at a time. It was totally unnecessary and counterproductive to split the R2s...
We were there at the same time. 👋
On one hand, the downtown event did generate some buzz in the city, where it may have piqued the interest of people unfamiliar with Rivian. On the other hand, for those of us who RSVP'd to attend the event, I would've preferred all three of the Chicago-area R2s...
