I just updated to 2025.26. I haven't driven yet but tried to simulate nav with dark mode, both with satellite and not. Could it be this is fixed (or improved) or is is just acceptable when in the garage without any sunlight??? I see nothing in the change log in any way referencing this...
I hear you, and I previously tried that.
I find that AUTO brightness works as it generally should, though my preference would be for it to have the screen slightly darker than the default. (that's a separate rant - a vehicle of this caliber should have adjustable light sensitivity like what's...
While driving yesterday afternoon (light out) while in dark mode, I had a revalation (don't get too excited, it's not that deep): : it's not just that the satellite imagery is too dark and washed out in dark mode, it's that the overlaid roads are ALSO too dark.
You can very clearly see the...
Update - I can't believe it! The original Ride-On 532 fits without modification except for needing longer bolts. I used 8 60mm long m8 bolts from Home Depot which gave the clamps the needed width.
I wrapped a bit of rubber stair tread around the Rivian bars to help stop slipping. Worked like...
Even at night though, the dark overlay (and I say overlay because everything is darkened vs using white text on dark background) makes it nearly impossible to read. It is true in the Rivian app on smartphones too on the same phones that show maps in the Google Maps app is dark mode cleanly.
I've been extremely disappointed of the clarity of the map, and only of the map, when in night/dark mode. I'm seeing the serious issue on my 2025 R1S's center display and on my Android phone.
[ I had posted something similar this in the large 2025.22 thread, but believe it deserves its own...
Send feedback in the app. I have and hope that with enough, they'll address this. Be detailed. I find it very interesting that you're having the same dark/difficult to read maps in the iPhone app that I'm having on Android. Clearly, they are not doing night/dark correctly.
Thank you @ThomV and @SwaziCAR for the thoughtful replies and photos.
First, for anyone with the same old setup as I described in the original post: STANDBY. I'm still waiting on Rivian to deliver the crossbars, and I'm now thinking that the "universal" Thule crossbar adapter may actually fit...

UPDATE: The Thule 532 Ride-On universal rack fits the Rivian crossbars. 55-60mm long M6 bolts are needed. See post #6 for more info. Thanks all.

I have a Thule 532 Ride-On rack (note, it's the ”universal” rack for factory bars, not the identically numbered but very...
It might even be worse with the update, at a minimum or is no better. @azbill are you and Android or I Phone user? If you have your phone in dark mode, does the middle tab's map also appear super dark? For me on both the car and the phone it's definitely not contrast, because everything else...
I like dark mode. I use it on Android phones, I use it on Windows computers, and I use it on my AAOS Volvo XC90. Backgrounds are black (or dark), text is light.
I prefer dark mode on the Rivian all of the time too, but the map, both the Map box version and the Google Maps replacement, are...
Hi everyone,
First post from a two-week-long 2025 R1S Dual Max owner here, a week of which was back at the service center. Granted, I don't have much Rivian experience yet, but I've got 30+ years IT experience (including as a developer). I've also got with another vehicle with Android...
