Shout out to Orlando repair center.
Evidently the fix came via terms of a firmware update that got the BMS out of boot loader mode and restored normal operation.
They went the extra mile and literally drove the truck to my house to drop it off. So thanks for the effort.
Heres hoping for no...
Yeah im thinking that the 46.30 update is the fix for my issue. The “very rare” bug described as #2 is exactly what happened to me. I hope and i expect that the .30 update will prevent anyone else from dealing with the issue.
As far as fixing it once its already happened. Still no fix for me...
Install it IMMEDIATELY… i mean right now, stop whatever you are doing and install that update.
The original “very rare issue” is what hit my truck and caused the memory on the BMS to get wiped. 1.5 weeks in and still no truck.
Thanks for your service. Been using it off and on for a while. Like checking the software updates etc. Too bad it looks like this one may have a ghost in the machine.
Thanks to all. No update today, but yeah my guess is that is the reason the 2025.46 rollout was paused at 90% as of this AM. (Thanks RivianRoamer).
As for this being fixed by mobile service i dont think the favored fix is in yet, but my truck has been at the SC for a week, (not incl. holidays)...
Update: So i heard from the technician working on the vehicle and a big thanks for all the information they provided.
Basically, the memory on the BMS was wiped when the vehicle went to sleep and when it woke up, it no longer knew what it was, what the size of the pack was or when to close...
So the truck is still with the Orlando service center… was advised today that they got it operational but they still don't know why it died so they are continuing to diagnose and will call me with another update tomorrow … I’ll
Also to be clear, my Rivian battery was also replaced back in July by the service center for the pinching bracket problem so whatever this is if it’s 12 V related, it should not be related to the benching bracket
Thanks to everyone for the sincere thoughts and proposed solutions.
Just so I can sound as educated as possible when we discussed the BMS, are we discussing the BMS for the high voltage battery or the 12 V battery specifically or are they one in the same?
The way I see it if this is a BMS...
Okay well here is some, since the Truck is still in the shop and ONLY early diagnostics are complete. All i know so far is that the BMS system failed and had to be reset. All my invoice says so far is that the 12v battery was replaced. That would be the third 12v battery this truck has had this...
If you understood how many cars on the market have electric doors you would be surprised. I have a rental Nissan Sentra this morning that wouldnt let me out until i first unlocked the door with the unlock button then pressed the handle.
The same thing is true of laminated glass. Just watched a...
The Rodent pressure where i live is not very high. I find this unlikely.
I do live in a moist environment, so there could be something to that.
Either way, Serenya is with Rivian now so ill report when i get some more details.
I was thinking 12v problem too, the thing is that the 12v was already replaced by the service center in July under the factory service bulletin.
That said, it was giving all the sort of effects that I would expect from 12v failure. By the time the truck made it up on the flatbed everything in...
Got in the truck to do a quick reposition and almost immediately a whole cascade of warnings popped up. Began with Motor Fault followed by thermal system fault. Whenever i put my foot on the brake pedal more faults showed up. Even impossible ones like gear tunnel and tailgate. Got on the phone...
TLDR: the problem surrounds the lock only behavior at home for passive entry and the push to unlock feature, which works only very intermittently.
Just got off the phone with Rivian Support and got to what I think is the bottom of the issue. When lock only is enabled at home, the vehicle will...
