I used to hand wash because the chemicals they use at the auto-wash will strip a ceramic coating in just a few washes. I don't have that on this R1S, so I just run it through the brushes.
If you don't feel rich driving this car, ask yourself, how would you feel if your uber eats order showed up in a Rivian? It wouldn't be a bad thing, per se, but you'd definitely feel a certain way about it, even if it's subconscious.
I feel like paint is getting softer and softer, and the auto manufacturers charge more and more for "custom" colors. I miss the days when they used to put glass reinforced asbestos clear coats on cars.
I owned and hand-washed my M4 Comp. I also had it ceramic coated, so it would have been wasted on auto washing. I use a monthly membership car wash now, and it's easy to just run the R1 through on my way home from work. It even applies the right amount of tire shine, haha. It's the little things...
I"m interested in what you folks do with your cars? Do you hand wash primarily, or do you use an automatic car wash?
If you autowash, do you lease?
I autowash and lease.
There's a "Clear Settings" option in the service menu. Also make sure to remove any previous owner paired keys and phones.
You'll start in the app and it will ask to pair to the vehicle. It will walk you through the process.
I get the same thing when I'm backing into my driveway. There's a tree on the corner of my driveway that seems to be just close enough for the sensors to pick it up and it gives a cross-traffic warning when reversing. Annoying, but I've come to expect it now.
