  1. 20" Inch Nitto Grappler A/T tire separations--three so far!

I'd consider reporting this to the NHTSA. Sounds like Nitto needs to investigate this. NHTSA
  2. What technique do you use to charge 2 EVs

I started with one EV then added another. I accomplished this via a tesla universal wall connector that lets you daisy chain from the UWC to another wall connector. It then power shares. Had I thought that I would get a second EV soon, I'd probably have used this instead. Grizzl-e Duo...
  3. R2 Highway Efficiency Test: 80 MPH vs 70 MPH Changed Everything

I agree that one reason it's not noticed is that fueling stations are common and fast. However, MPG does decrease less going from 70-80mph in a gas car vs. range in an EV. As one example: In one test, the model Y efficiency decreased about 21% going from 70-80 (302.2 Wh/mi->366 Wh/mi)...
  4. R2 Highway Efficiency Test: 80 MPH vs 70 MPH Changed Everything

You're arguing against something I didn't say. I specifically said people buying their first EV may not know this yet. Saying "everyone who's owned an EV knows this" isn't a rebuttal, those are different groups. I also never claimed anyone "discovered" anything. My point was simply that many...
  5. Google Maps Capabilities

One issue with the speed limit reports on the Rivian is that - say you turn from a 30mph road onto a 55mph road, the speed limit indicator doesn't change until it "sees" a different speed limit sign. So until it sees a 55mph sign, it remains at 30mph. At least on Gen 1 that is.
  6. Google Maps Capabilities

As far as I can tell it shows crash indicators, color-coded traffic indicators, construction indicators, but does not show speed/red-light cameras or police. It does ask me if I want to re-route to save time if there is a backup.
  7. R1S Speaker question

Thanks all, yeah @3wisemonkeyz - I agree somewhat. The sound is somewhat hollow sounding and that's what led me to investigate the speakers to see if they were even working. All I got was mid-bass out of those, so apparently they are working.
  8. R1S Speaker question

Are the speakers in the bottom of the front doors just subwoofers or full speakers? Seems they just output bass on mine.
  9. Rivian cancelled an R2 customer pickup b/c paint didn't match (Half Moon Grey body vs El Cap fascia) **Updated 7/21** 800 vehicles affected

I think someone interpreted the term "half-moon gray" as half a car being moon gray (half "moon gray").
  10. R2 Highway Efficiency Test: 80 MPH vs 70 MPH Changed Everything

Oh come on yourself. Have you seen the average person? Most people don't cite or even visit fueleconomy.gov and quote crap about the oil crisis from 1973. Shit, most of them weren't even born yet. They just get in their car and drive. They don't do "back of the envelope calculations."...
  11. All-Season vs. All-Terrain Tires. Ride quality opinions wanted!

I can't speak to the R2, but on my Gen 1 R1S, moving from 20" AT tires to the 20" AS tires had a huge positive impact on efficiency and range (like 40-60 more miles of highway range) and a small negative impact on ride quality. As others have said, the AS are quieter too - the AT have a certain...
  12. R2 Highway Efficiency Test: 80 MPH vs 70 MPH Changed Everything

Not necessarily. Lots of folks on here buying their first ever EVs may not. ICE cars are so inefficient that you don't really notice the efficiency hit for going a bit faster.
  13. Apple iOS Text/Messaging Integration

The notification on the Rivian when you get a text is pretty easy to miss. It’s a small box on the drivers display that you then need to press one of the steering wheel buttons to get it to read the message. I think it plays a sound but its real quiet.
  14. Grabber HTS60 vs. all. Why not more popular?

I just put some of the General Grabber tires on and did a 550-ish mile road trip (round trip). On the way there I got 2.56 miles/kwH and on the way back I got 2.35 for part of it and 2.25 for the other part (we stopped for a sit-down meal and it reset the trip meter on the energy app). The...
  15. '23 R1S with 59,954 Miles - Let the Sleepless Nights Begin

Eh, mine is a 2023 and I've had it a year. I'm about to make my second appointment to replace the half shafts AGAIN.
  16. Rivian vs Scout (⚠️ ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS)

I wish Scout would have focused on 800v and ultra fast 1MW charging like they have in China instead of the erv. Maybe licensed BYD tech and used their VW connections to upgrade the chargers on Electrify America. Being able to “fill up” in like 10 minutes would really give them an advantage
  17. New to Rivian and wondering how current owners find the repair experience?

I think each service center is a bit different. I know in Minneapolis, mine has been really good. Others have had much worse luck. You may want to post a thread asking about experiences with your particular service center.
  18. 21" Inch Coming down to the wire.... tire replacement

I have the Hankook Ion tires for my Model Y and we like them. They are holding up well after the factory set was replaced just over a year after we bought it. Seem a bit more efficient too.
  19. EV Efficiency Variable: Tire Mass Matters

I can't say whether its the AS tread vs. the AT tread, or the fact that my vehicle is no longer lugging around 55lbs on each wheel vs. 34lbs on the new tires, but after a dozen or so miles, I'm noticing a huge efficiency increase on the new tires. I'd normally struggle to pull 1.9 m/kwhr and...
  20. The dark AT wheels were silently changed so you don't know what you need/are getting

Yup, my 20" dark ATs have the yellow version rather than the amber. Glad you got the wobble sorted - so it was a bent wheel?
