At 500+ miles I would never. It was bad enough thinking of the prospect of the service center being 40 miles away, but now they've opened one <10 miles from me and I'm much more comfortable with the idea of ownership.
I loved my bright Tesla interior. It made it feel so much larger than the black interior. I'm a little bummed I won't be able to get a LE R2 with light interior, but I can manage.
As much as I generally prefer light interiors, I'm not going to hold out for one just because the launch package doesn't include it. The other included LE options provide a lot of value whereas you'd have to add them separately otherwise. I do prefer the light look though.
I never actually got an email from Rivian, but I went online yesterday morning and submitted my "Definitely" preference for the Launch Edition trim.
I wonder if those who are receiving more concrete language/communications from Rivian are those who already own one.

I have an EV6 (non-transferrable, because Kia) lease up next January. The fewer months I have to make 2 car payments and pay insurance for another vehicle, the better.
Fortunately for you (and me), there is basically no precedent ever in the EV world for releasing a low-trim, low-price model at launch. It always starts higher and moves down over time. They have to front load the subsidization of the lower trims somehow, and that's how they do it.
Me too! I fully plan on ordering it unless it doesn't have certain creature comforts like ventilated seats and heated side mirrors. In which case, I'll lease an R1S.
This is the most thorough and scientifically accurate answer.
All batteries = 50% ideal
LFP = Needs occasional 100% charge to calibrate BMS
That about sums it up.
Can't wait. I'm an earrrrrrrly reserver (first few minutes after the reservations went live). I still have 14 months left on an Kia EV6 lease, but have the budget to pay a simultaneous R2 lease. Also, it may be nice to have the EV6 as a backup for 6-8 months just in case the R2 ends up in the...
This completely discounts the average selling cost of a new vehicle these days, which is just north of $50k.

Rivian said they're on track for $45k pricing for the R2, which one can easily interpret to mean...
My hope is that it doubles or triples in the next few years.
I bought at IPO at $112 and on the day that it spiked to $150+ sold it all. Came away with a clean $5k.
I now am averaged at around $13, which is a comfortable spot for me to ride through the next couple years.
If Rivian shows a...
Windshield prices are getting nuts. I was under the impression the calibration was pretty straightforward, too. I also have really good insurance for windshields. I've never paid more than $100. I think I went through 3 windshields on that car.
