I like this idea, very clever! And also, that seatbelt looks like it will reduce the likelihood of the cooler flying forward during a crash, but not stop it. With enough inertia it looks like it might just tumble end over end because the seatbelt is so low.

Well yes. Rivian has to prove their autonomous system first; it's part of the contract. And the first ones for Uber roll out 2028.

I had to look it up, but the Uber-Lucid deal is only $300M. Uber-Rivian is $1.25B. I still need to look up the finer points on both though. I watched Diary of a CEO with the Uber CEO and this deal makes perfect sense with how he mentioned the future of AI and Uber.

LiDAR is used to train the autonomous model of the entire fleet. It does not directly benefit models that have it enabled (our of it does, it's marginal). There are a few interviews on YouTube with Rivian autonomy team stating this. Although since I'm not an R1 owner, I should not be...

It's been stated that crossbars will be compatible across both R1 & R2. However, that could be the new ones work for both but not the old ones. Time will tell I suppose.

I'm curious what the max total wheel/tire OD the R2 can fit without rubbing or other issues. I may just swap out OEM for aftermarket. Hopefully range doesn't take too big of a hit, but I plan for weekday commuting most of the time anyway.
