It may feel like a gimmick now, but I can almost guarantee it won't feel that way soon. It is a gimmick in the same way some people still don't fully get AI and think of it as gimmicky. Once it clicks you realize it is a complete and utter game changer.
Because there are people out there with a narrative they would like to push and they have already made up their minds.
"Why are there no R2 delivery posts?! Is the R2 doomed, conversion rate horrible...hmmm"
"Here are some"
"Those aren't enough...probably a PR stunt...person probably...
I stand corrected then (edited my previous comment). It all gets so confusing. I sincerely hope they hit that timeline!
But what I am not confused about is Rivian is claiming late 2026/early 2027 for Tesla FSD like capability (point to point eyes on) and that is in vehicles without LIDAR/RAP1.
Yes, this is the confusion. There is the current FSD capability that Tesla has, which is point to point with driver monitoring/eyes on but the car drives itself. And there is what Tesla is trying to transition to which is Robotaxi like/eyes off. Tesla has been allowed to test their robotaxis in...
According to Rivian (and even directly from RJ among other sources) the R2 and Gen2 R1 models WILL have point to point gps address capability (think Tesla FSD) rolling out through a software update in late 2026. They have said over and over that you do not need to wait for the LIDAR/RAP1...
Rivian board room circa 2024....
"Hey, we can save X amount of $ by not putting a traditional radio receiver in the R2. We should consider that"
"Yeah, but what about the edge cases where people live in the mountains or just really love their local stations?"
"Oh come on, the R2 is the most...
True. Which would mean Rivian is in the same boat with the Gen2s. I don't see how they get regulatory approval for L3 in vehicles w/out Lidar. Maybe Tesla and Rivian know something we don't. Maybe they know when it comes down to it the regulators will bow to the pressure.
Then, of course, you...
That isn't it's only objective. The big issue with Tesla is they are 99.9% of the way there but, at this point anyway, will not be approved for L3 because they do not have redundant sensors. The regulatory agencies have flat out said that and I think they are correct. L3 is a big deal in regards...
The Ioniq 5 looks like one of those cars where the designers took bits and pieces from just about every SUV on the market and bolted them together into one car. It has no true identity. It is a melting pot of design. Having the R2 right next to it doesn't do it any favors.
I know right? I felt bad about taking the pics/video but my wife had her phone out without me even thinking about it. I don't think they saw us filming. Also, I kept it really brief when I met him. People can be so rude about it, but yeah, I felt like TMZ lol.
My wife said he is lucky I didn't...
Hello everyone. I figured I would post this as some might find it interesting. I left out locations and some other details out of respect for his privacy.
This weekend my family and I were returning from a cruise. As we were standing in line at the terminal for our flight I noticed a guy that...
The pricing is right in line with what many expected it to be so I don't think it is a shock to most. If anything, this might be a tad less than I thought. I think it matches up well with the Model Y. This isn't just about specs though, people also buy because they like the styling and brand...
