Probably not uncanceling. Not out of bitterness or anything like that though I do question the long term viability of Rivian as a company.
The whole episode made me put some more thought into my Silverado EV order. Yes it’s more $ but it’s also more range, faster charging, Supercruise and...
I also don’t want to pay for an extra row of seats I don’t want and probably won’t use.
I’m not going to slam the door on reinstating my preorder but chances are slim.
I’m out. Silverado EV already on order. Saving like crazy to try and pay for it. The new difference in price doesn’t justify loss of range, charging speed and Supercruise.
I have a friend well up the GM corporate ladder who seems confident GM won’t pull “a Rivian” on the Silverado EV.
A Rivian and Silverado EV are probably both beyond my budget now. If I could swing either it’s tough to justify 316 vs 400 mi range, 400v vs 800v charging and Driver+ vs Supercruise for so close to the same price.
I’m thinking along the same lines. I’m driving a Mustang Mach-E now that is a real bugfest and well beyond the lemon law threshold. Every other EV that appeals to me is either a unicorn or way out of my price range.
That’s a couple thousand miles each way so it would take some planning to get away that long. Not ruling it out though. Thanks!
on edit: According to ABRP, 2,600 miles each way with 15 charge stops. I always love a good road trip! Kind of nuts but I’ve never been known for sanity. Going to...
I’ve asked. You not only won’t get an invitation, you won’t get an answer. Just boiler plate about how hard they are working and that everybody has COVID.
Sorry, I’m not nearly rich enough to spend that kind of money blind. If Rivian’s business model requires keeping the customers away from the product I’m sure glad I didn’t buy any stock.
I’ve asked Rivian CS if I could see one if I drove to the plant in Normal. I never got a straight answer. Just the boiler plate about how hard they are trying to setup local test drives but everybody has COVID, etc.
Has anybody actually been to Normal? If I walked in the front door and asked...
If I had the opportunity to redo my first EV purchase it would very likely be an EV6 instead of an MME. The specs are very similar except for 800V charging which seems like something I wish I had. Plus my MME is a certified lemon.
Did you need the glass recall? Did you succeed in getting it done? How long did it take?
Mine is into the third week of the third appointment to get it fixed. I’m considering using the state lemon law.
