Basically same, I have a June ā21 Adventure/Max Pack/21ā/White/Black interior R1T ordered. I have the email stating 2H of 2023 delivery.
I need/want to tow with it..with all the concerns that brings.
So Iām personally okay if it slips well into 2024. That gives enough time to see what happens...
Iām unofficially out too.. My R1T (white, Adventure, Max Pack, a few option, accessories) jumped from like 84725 to $101950. No fāg way, they have really screwed the pooch.
Since I needed a new, bigger tow vehicle for this summer..and wasnāt getting a Max Pack until end of ā23 (or later)..we...
We went for this a few weeks back after a nationwide search to get what we wanted for not too much of a markup. Dealer delivered it to our house. Itās the tail end of the old school. Will see how the new hybrid models do over the next few years.
With the delays on the Max Packā¦and possible design, engineering, pricing, performance and/or supply chain issues with it..my confidence in a late 2023 delivery has dwindled. Thatās in addition to weight, towing range and recharging-while-towing concerns I have.
Iām probably expecting too much...
Thank you for the continuing wealth of info you are providing, this is a great thread.
I may have missed this elsewhere..
Can I tow using Conserve Mode? If Iām cruising steady at like 60mph on easy, mostly flat or just gentle inclined paved roads..can I use Conserve? Has anyone tried this...
Same, need Max Pack to have any chance of towing realistically.
Also Silverado EV (2 reservations); 2 other EV res; a Sierra AT4X; eyeing another large hybrid SUV; and looking at existing ICE large SUV now to get by approx 2 years..3 yrs? IDK.
Very good, thanks for explaining this. While a somewhat diff set of conditions..really deep bottomless sand and what type, size of tire works best also introduces physics that is hard for many to grasp. It always leads to good discussions too.
Same here. Try to stay home.. or find a room if caught out and roads are closed down. Winter sleeping bag, water and food basics can make all the difference middle of nowhere. And something like this:
I have that creeping fear also. Time, more delay increases the risk of an unfavorable tax credit situation and of inflationary pressures. I also would not be surprised if they even kick it back further to a 2nd iteration of the R1T (or whatever it would be named).
If, in fact, itās actually...
AWESOME CHADX!!
You just nailed it hard and direct. How are we suppose to āadventure aboutā..as all their adverts over the last several years suggest..when there isnāt enough juice to get there, adventure some, and get back home from the middle-of-nowhere??
I too have suggested an optional...
Iām totally with you..really canāt state it any betterā¦
As I watched the Rivian website last 2 or 3 yrs..they were really pushing, advertising the Max Pack option and thatās what I need to make the pickup a reasonably viable āadventureā vehicle. Simply cannot get to many locales, then explore...
Thanks very, very much for everything you are doing for all of us on this forum. Highly appreciated!
My most important concern is the automatic tonneau cover. I previously have questioned Rivian CS about various aspects..but they only rarely provided any direct answers. So..
1) It now seems...
Same here. Doubt the technology has evolved much from the Michelin OEM tire (that was) on my ā17 Benz. Compared to the Pirelli I put on last April..that Michelin was louder and more harsh. Canāt confirm..but have read that some tire places would even refuse to fix a flat on that type of tire?
Meant to add: If I am forced into the 21ā set for long trip towing (again with Max Pack) Iāll have both the onboard full size spare..and a 2nd unmounted spare which Iāll buy right away. Will carry that either in the pickup bed or on top of the trailer, or maybe on the rear ladder.
Actually..I think youāre right on the money.
With a Max Pack on order..and a trailer to tow in warmer months..Iāve got a ton of time to decide. But after a lot of thought on this itās reasonably likely Iāll end up with both the 20ā and 21ā wheels. My only decision will be which to order with...
So what do you think? Would you pay more for FSD? Or, like crab-walk and tank-turn, is it a parlor trick that you'd do once to show off to friends, and probably never touch again?
Would pay very little extra, certainly not thousands as a lump sum. And likely not more than say $20/month. I...
Thanks for pointing out your Third Factor..I hardly ever see that mentioned in our forums here (maybe I donāt read enough). And I do recall seeing somewhere how the Rivian routing function will apparently prep the battery in some fashion based on a planned charger stop. I assume itās...
I recently asked CS the same related question:
ā 1) Does the Speedometer automatically know/sense when I change Rivian-provided wheelset sizes? (Important both for knowing oneās true speed, and possibly as input to your range planning, mapping system). Yes or No? (I donāt need to know HOW you...
