I just had my 2025 Tri Max in for unrelated service and noticed a line item for replacing the front half-shafts with updated parts. The invoice states:
Concern:
- Perform FSAM-1717
Cause:
- fsam-1717, replaced both left and right side front half shafts with updated parts
Correction/Remedy...
This is a short video of the sound. They said the sound was from the pinch welds, but not bc the welds were failing in any way. I did pick it up yesterday. They added an OEM metal sealant to the top of the welds to separate the metals that were creaking, and it fixed the problem. They assured me...
I recently had my 2025 R1T Tri serviced at the Duncan SC for a creaking noise coming from between the bed and cab. They said it was the pinch welds between the bed and cab making the noise. Their certified body shop did the repairs. They now say the “joints are sealed” and within spec.
What...
The insurance company ended up totaling the vehicle. I replaced it with a new TriMax. Luckily I had new car replacement on my insurance, so I didn’t have to pay anything out of pocket.
Thanks for the input everyone! This Engineering Explained video is what I was thinking about when considering damage to the hv battery if it sat at 0% for a month+.
Luckily for me, the collision center threw caution to the wind and tried charging on their charger yesterday, and it worked...
Thanks for the input everyone. The Rivian approved body shop in my area expects a 1-2 month repair time. My expectation is that the vehicle would sit at 0% for most of this time. Shipping mode with a trickle charger seems like a good option (thanks Riviot!).
I was in an accident last week while traveling in Georgia. A Silverado failed to yield and hit us, crushing our front-left side right at the charge port. The other driver was very reasonable and has assumed all fault and liability.
I was advised by Rivian not to attempt to charge bc of the...

I even called to confirm that I opted in correctly (customer service confirmed that I did). Wonder what I’m doing wrong.
On a trip to Florida, we were charging at an Electrify America charger in Gainesville. The vehicle had 10% and I needed 80-90%, so we went to get something to eat. While watching the app I saw that the truck stopped charging at 70%, then it said unplugged. Some jerk in a Volvo pushed stop on the...
I had a similar experience once and power cycling the rivian wall charger fixed it. I just turn the breaker off for 30-60 seconds, then back on. The charger’s induction light at the top should be slowly blinking white if it’s ready to charge.
I have tried forcing it (Hi/Lo). I have tried a soft reset and a hard reset. Nothing seems to make a difference. I have filed a ticket. But I’ll give them a call again today now that I have more info. Maybe the defrost/defogger issue will convince them the issue is important.
I’m having HVAC issues, seemingly after the most recent update. I have had the truck since March 2022 and have had no issues. But recently the heat is only lukewarm and worse the A/C is also lukewarm. I have tried recirculate, rear climate off and on, initiating from defrost, initiating from the...
That depends. A few things that the truck could be picking up on that ABRP may not be:
-current state of charge (I’d suggest charging to 100% before leaving)
-drive mode (change to conserve mode)
-possibly picking up on some real-time traffic that ABRP doesn’t know about
Don’t let it overwhelm you. You can also just hop in the truck and put the destination in the truck’s map, and it’ll do it all for you. If you’re in a hurry on the drive, 5 minutes of planning the night before might save you some charging time (but probably not a huge difference).
All of this is good advice. With a little planning, your trip with be painless. I’ve found it works best to plan on ABRP then double check those charging stops on PlugShare. Reading recent reviews about the chargers that ABRP suggested on PlugShare will let you know if those are good charging...
I have similar feedback. Our other vehicle is a 2016 Tesla MS 90D on spring suspension. We live in the mountains with lots of windy roads. I feel like even in all-purpose mode our R1T corners better than the MS, as long as the suspension is set to stiff. My daughter gets noticeably less car sick...
