The lack of fast-charger infrastructure in the western United States.
Yeah, not Rivian’s fault. But a real problem for those of us who want to use their Rivian in remote areas, when coupled with the vehicle’s sub-300-mile range (AT tires.)
Long term thinking pays off only if Rivian survives long term.
I can't claim to know what Rivian is thinking. I can't claim to know the long-term plans of Apple and Google.
I do know what led me to preorder an R1S two years ago: An EV with solid off-road ability. And a version with a range of...
With the billions in debt acquired with Twitter's purchase, and given how that's turning out, Musk soon may feel a powerful incentive for a new revenue stream. Accommodating CCS is the only way that will happen in time to help.
A potential media gold mine for Rivian. More than worth the effort of helping out myboodai.
A Rivian up and running in the heart of ME oil producing nations would be newsworthy. Cheap positive publicity.
No one thinks that The Long Way Up means Rivian will support an individual driving up...
I assumed so because Rivian installs the tonneaus on the line, they seem highly integrated with the truck bed, Rivian, not some third party, does the servicing, and Rivian is the one having to clean up this mess.
But my post was unclear. I think it would have been wiser of Rivian to leave...
In what universe is designing and manufacturing power tonneaus part of Rivian's core business?
This entire screwup is an unforced error, and regardless of how Rivian (mis)communicated the news, it would have been a hot mess.
Rivian should have provided necessary specs to the several...
You're right. I'm hoping aftermarket aero covers for the the 20' wheels will become available. But my crystal ball is pretty worthless--there was a time when I thought I would be able to order an R1S with the Max Pack and no third seat. Silly me.
420 each way. My hope is a single stop. Working against me will be 20" wheels with AT tires. Working for me, an average top speed of 65 - 70. And aero wheel covers, if evidence supports them. Something I can pop off and on where the pavement ends and the AT tires earn their keep.
Too late! My wife already signed my commitment papers.
I had felt like a wanker for missing the wheel size. Thanks for sparing me further head-scratching.
The R1S I'm waiting on will be my first EV. Likely one-day runs (to national parks) will max-out at around 420 miles. I'm worried about...
I see now that these details are in the very first sentence of your OP. Ach! My apologies for missing the obvious. Thanks again for your detailed OP. And thanks for not giving me the reaming I deserved.
Mumble, mumble. Well, that's worthless in most situations where you most need a spare. So I'll be reallocating the $450 from the compact spare and putting it toward the full-size spare once they are available. Then it's a matter of finding a secure mount for the spare after I pull the...
The text of the law:
AB-797 Motor vehicles: rescue or provision of care for animal: civil and criminal liability.
"acting in good faith" strikes me as providing a lot of wiggle room. California, like all states, has it's share of folks with a surplus of good faith and a deficit of good sense...
Pet Comfort Mode could be a headache in places like California. State law protects "Good Samaritans" who break into a vechicle if they sincerely believe an animal inside is in danger.
This is a "feature" I would pay not to have.
And as Rivian struggles to ramp up production, I have to wonder whether a simple metal roof wouldn't have been easier, cheaper, and faster to manufacture.
