I'd say average 70-75mph on the highway is pretty accurate for most people's highway speed. 70mph avg is actually considered low in LA. Here people go 75-80/mph when there's no traffic.
Can someone explain to me what Rivian care program is ? Do I need to purchase it when i'm getting a brand new R2 when it'll be under the warranty ? Is it like an Apple care for iphone sort of thing?
I personally never trust the EPA ratings. I always give 70-75% of what the EPA says and I estimate that to be my true real world range. I'm not surprised at 253 miles result from Rivian but i'm surprised at the Tesla's lmao. Because during my past 5 years of Tesla ownership experience, Tesla...
This really reminds me of the Tesla in the early days when Model S/X first came out. Just insanely unreliable and build quality was even worse for Tesla than it is for Rivian now.
I feel like Rivian is doing better than Tesla if put on the same timeline. Definitely will need some time to iron...
yea..I was getting about 200 miles for 80% with my previous 2021 Model Y (there's been battery degradation), so my mi/kwh number should be very close to yours. Tesla just massively overstates their number vs the real world usage.
Everyone has a difference definition of "better". But i'd say Tesla Model Y is definitely a more mature product as it's been out for 7 years now and has gone through tons of little changes here and there. BUT...you will be driving the same car just like the car next to you at every other...
You just can't really defy the physics unfortunately...the frontal facia plus the high ground clearance just isn't gonna help with the efficiency when traveling at 70-80mph..
If you really want to improve the efficiency of the R2, one may have to start looking into lowering the car and swap in...
so sorry this happened to you. I hope Rivian takes a hard look on the issue and fixes it for you (or even just give you a brand new car). This should have never happened. Especially this is their make or break model aimed at mass population. You can't have issues like this.
I feel like you are left with the new BMW iX3 and/or Mercedes GLC EV now. I like them both, and have considered both to be honest but the sticker price is out of my budget. But not able to afford the higher sticker price is my issue, not the manufacturer issue. 😭
agree that probably over 95% of population doesn't have a 12 hour bladder. I know I don't and even before EV was a thing, most ICE cars stops at Barstow for gas/coffee/pee/poop/snack break between LA and Vegas. Did I need to get gas? not really, it depends how full i started the drive with. But...
I am big on EDM (Techno, Trance mostly). What EQ setting would you recommend for rave music genres? I also produce/DJ but am not good enough to tackle the sound design aspect for the Rivian's EQ settings.
Appreciate your input. I can't wait for my R2 Delivery and really want to dial the EQ...
You are very accurate on all the points. My wife's family runs hardware manufacture business in Taiwan and they supply most major industrial computers to major companies out here in the US. She told me anything related to automotive, it takes minimally 2 years for customers to even see it...
I'm hoping Rivian wouldn't have to deliver the Tesla 3/Y volume any time soon. I would like to enjoy Rivian as a standout nice looking vehicle and not another Toyota of EV like Tesla is.
