  1. Questions for people who have switched from Tesla to Rivian [ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS / NO ELON DISCUSSIONS]

Here's my perspective and I've gone from a 2022 R1T Quad -> 2026 R1T Quad and a 2022 Model 3 Dual Motor w/FSD -> 2026 Model 3 AWD Premium w/FSD. I'm the primary driver of the Rivians and my wife/3 year old daughter primarily use the Tesla. Here's a summary of my experience with each...
  2. R2 Heat Pump? Coming? Standard? Option?

Good explanation. Thanks! My own anecdotal experience (in WI) is that my Gen 2 Quad WAS immediately more efficient than my Gen 1 Quad. And I swapped them out in February. Now, I certainly wasn't tracking the data in a meticulous way. And my experience doesn't explain whether or not the...
  3. Tesla to upgrade all HW3 cameras and computers to HW4 - RJ, your move.

If Tesla does this it would be a paid upgrade for most owners and possibly a free upgrade for people who bought FSD on hardware 3. Elon also mentioned providing an incentive to upgrade to a HW 4 vehicle as a possibility as well. I don't really see an analog for Rivian here. Gen 1 owners never...
  4. Did Rivian Financing Just go to 0%

They had 0%/60 months and 0.49%/72 months in February of this year when I used it to buy my Borealis Quad Motor R1T. Unless that employee was hired since then he's straight up lying, communicating disingenuously at best. Even the current 0.99%/60 months on Tri and Quads is pretty solid, though.
  5. Anyone who ordered receive their Borealis R1T or R1S yet? - - -

Took delivery of a quad w/bronze wheels from the shop last Friday and was able to take this rare photo prior to the buyer picking up my old CY.

  8. Wisconsin **Sale Pending** 2022 R1T - Compass Yellow - Ocean Coast - TONS of warranty

I haven't had any issues with the tonneau and there have been no significant service requirements, just a few aesthetic issues I had Rivian address after I bought it (a rattle from the headliner, paint issue on the charge door, paint issue on one of the gear tunnel doors).
  9. Wisconsin **Sale Pending** 2022 R1T - Compass Yellow - Ocean Coast - TONS of warranty

Thanks! I love CY. I wish they still produced them. Borealis is the only replacement color that has tempted me so I'm making the jump ;)

  11. 30% of the time, my 2024 R1S forgets to restore my seat position when I get in.

A few times recently my '22 R1T loads my wife's settings when I approach and open the door despite the fact that she (and her phone) was at least miles away in each instance. As in, the seat position and wheel are in the correct settings for me but they change to hers when I open the door. In...
  12. Tesla FSD drives down railroad tracks, gets hit by train

What I wrote is accurate and has been for a while now. Why would I critique it based on what it was a year ago, 2 years whatever. I don't understand the point you're trying to make with that "revisionist" comment. As for v13, I've never used it. My understanding is that it adds things like...
  13. Tesla FSD drives down railroad tracks, gets hit by train

I have a Model 3 with FSD and it is very easy to disengage. You can either touch the brake pedal or take control of the steering wheel (by countering something the car is trying to do). Good info here and the car probably did try to turn onto the tracks. I'm skeptical of this story overall...
  14. You've been warned! If you're heading to California this weekend, be on the lookout...

"So far this year, CHP officers have issued nearly 243,000 citations for speed-related violations. This includes more than 47,000 citations for speeds over 100 mph." The bolded stat seems utterly crazy. It's not even halfway through the year. That does indicate a serious problem in my opinion.
  15. Rivian software stability is a real issue we don't talk about

Yeah, still working normally today. Has been fine since Sunday. Did you try a full reset (left steering wheel + hazard)?
  16. Rivian software stability is a real issue we don't talk about

Working normally again today. I had done a soft and full reset Sunday night. Maybe that helped. But I'm suspecting maybe it was a network/technical issue Rivian or its provider was experiencing.
  17. Rivian software stability is a real issue we don't talk about

This was happening to me on my Gen 1 R1T on Sunday. Yesterday it was back to normal. I'm about to see what experience today brings...
  18. Wisconsin Service?

I had my R1T there in November. The work itself was good. The wait time for both the appointment (2+ months) and the service itself (~3 weeks) were suboptimal but that's a general Rivian flaw. I didn't love the rental car I was given (Equinox EV from Enterprise). I don't think they even had any...
