When I bought the truck, I called NStar to ask when was the best time for me to charge the truck to reduce stress on their network. The customer service representative consulted with engineering and came back and said they don’t care, which I found disturbing/clueless.
A year or so later, I...
How about never.
Leasing is for short timers who believe in the disposable economy.
Don’t throw it away… fix it.
I drove my Tundra for 22 years, I made new wheel wells out of sheet metal and replaced the rear bumper with a 2x6.
Vivian may be the last truck I own.
I will take the money I...
I kept my 2000 Tundra until the Rivian R1T 22 was delivered. Two months after I stopped driving the Tundra one of the wheels almost did fall off.
I love Vivian and will drive her till one of us dies.
I notice that the reception is spotty in my area but works most of the time. The radio reception is not that great for an expensive vehicle but I guess traditional antennas aren’t very “adventurous” looking and a retractable antenna would have added to the cost.
I never thought of it as an ad. If the stations would post the song title and musician that would be great. Unfortunately most stations no longer do that. One or two left but for some reason the audio system seems to grab whatever was playing when I switch on and leave it there.
Working around the vehicle: if I walk up to the tailgate the truck usually realizes I’m there and unlocks. BUT if I open the gate or tonneau and start to work - the truck locks itself after a brief interval. I find that really inconvenient. It obviously knows I’m there… why lock itself while...
Odometers seem to have become confidential information. I recently looked for an odometer reading in my wife’s electric mini cooper and Volvo xc60. I actually had to read the directions (OMG) In both vehicles in order to find where to look.
Even licensed electricians screw up, if you don't understand it completely don't do it. For now all I want is to run my table saw. I'm willing to wait for Rivian to come out with a UL certified solution to using the truck as a house battery. Generac has a division devoted to house batteries-...
Maintaining the battery, or rather 7776 batteries. Hopefully keeping the 12 v batteries topped up. All the lithium batteries I have used lose charge over time. At one time Ford rangers were known for vampire drain which was a problem because they came with a motorcycle sized battery.
As i understand it the only thing keeping us (Rivian owners) from powering the house like a 220 v generator is the charger. Fords setup has a special two way charger and a transfer switch. When you plug in to fast charge the truck handshakes with the charger and allows the DC to flow into the...
Set the truck for shipping mode (service menu), close the app and resist to urge to frequently check the SOC. I'm parked in NJ for the month and check every few days, Vivian has settled down to 1%/day. But I left the charge cable and a HD 110V extension in the cab in case something weird...
Open the app and scroll down to climate, click the fan icon - it will heat up the cab and to an extent the battery. I would love to have a button just for "prepare the battery for travel" if enough of us request it from the guides it may become a feature. While your at it -ask for car play and...
