Iām not sure, youāll have to ask BMW. Seems silly to me.
Hereās some recent CarPlay documentation that highlights how the automaker decides to restrict keyboard access and list lengths. Check page 47:

āiOS automatically...
Just a note that the keyboard lock is an implementation decision made by the automaker. They choose when to lock the keyboard, or whether to lock it at all. Some automakers decide to leave it fully unlocked, like Audi, VW, Hyundai, and others. This may change based on model year.
We are? Hrmm. Not sure about that business strategy, but I guess Microsoft has done weirder things. š¤£
For the record, I work on MS Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint (feel free to check my profile on LinkedIn). Nothing related, dont claim to have āinsider infoā.
And yes, all that information is...
Yes, wireless AP/AA is available and up to the automaker to implement. Supports the varying levels of integration identified above. Technically uses a combo of Bluetooth and WIFI, although the wifi connection is āinvisibleā to the user. You just hop into your car and CP/AA is active on the screen.
TL;DR: CarPlay is a flexible system designed to support a wide range of in-car experiences, from basic projection to full UI control, all depending on what automakers want to offer.
Rivian's position on Carplay is one of the hottest, constantly reoccurring topics on these forums, especially...
Yea I was surprised at this number too. Heres how I think we end up at 42min though:
- Not all DC fast chargers are 150kW or faster, ~20% are.
- ~45% of DC public fast chargers deliver charging speeds of between 50-100kW, only 15% of all charging sessions deliver at over 150kW.
- I think you're...
@good2go, that other person's post wasn't very kind, and that's unfortunate. Let's just ignore it and move on.
To be clear, I didn't say that 98% of all charging happens at home. That stat is for myself and my family. If memory serves me (which it sometimes doesn't), 80-90% for the general...
Here's some data to think about:
- In 2023, Electrify America recorded over 10 million charging sessions
- Electrify America has a 10% share of the charging market
- Napkin math puts that at 100 million charging sessions in 2023
- Average fast charging session is 42 minutes.
- More napkin math...
There seems to be some confusion about model years and gens and emergency releases. To clarify:
The 2022-2024 manual you are referencing is for Gen 1.
Gen 1 vehicles do not have a separate emergency release. You pull the normal mechanical handle twice. I guess you could say that IS the...

I just purchased a Rhino Rack Pioneer 6 Platform and found the rack very well built.
I wanted the slimest profile possible and didn't want to use bulky clamp style mounts.
Since the OEM bars and the Rhino Rack use t-tracks, I thought a t-track to t-track solution would give me the best look...
Can confirm the referral link works. You can also stack other coupons/promos. I was able to get 55% off a set of Nokian Outpost nATs by stacking the tire-specific 34% off promo and the 20% referral code. Essentially 2 for 1!
I find the biggest benefit is not on multi-lane roads (still have lots of space and time to shoulder check), but specifically in downtown-like areas with single lane roads with a high volume of distractions and poor visibility. Why? Cyclists and other smaller objects. Remember to check your...
I've used the US Gear Shop and shipped to a reshipping service in the US to get it up here to me. A couple reshipping services that I've used and had a good experience with:
MyUS.com
Reship.com
Gotta factor in the extra shipping costs, those can really pile up when making multiple orders. But...
