Ghetto method of powering the house with a Rivian

Electric service to residences in the U.S. is primarily single phase off of one of three phases from the grid. Two 120V circuits are obtained from the taps of the transformer. They are all on the same phase of the circuit.

    One-eyed R1T :( Headlight broken by a Jeep

I had a 1 ton pickup rearend me 3 years ago during the GM strike and parts not available. State Farm (my insurance) recommended that I claim it on my collision and they would go after Farmers Insurance for reimbursement. It took 3 months but it got fixed and I got my deductible returned. I would...

    Rivian Wall Charger inefficiency

Power losses are equal to current squared times resistance. So a higher current at 240 volts would have higher losses. That is why long distance power transmission lines have higher voltages so current is kept lower and line losses are reduced.

    Rivian Wall Charger inefficiency

62.3/55.9 yields 1.114 or 11.44% losses. That number is typical for Level 2 EVSEs. My average loss over 10,000 miles of charging my Bolt with a 240v/32 amp EVSE is about 9.1%. (I do keep detailed charging records) But that includes cooler non-summer weather charging. I assume you are on a...

With temperatures dropping is anyone else already noticing range losses?

Battery preconditioning may have played a role in dropping the range as well, especially if you had the charging location set as the destination in the navigation.

Rivian Range Test Until It Dies / Runs Out of Battery (by Ben Sullins)

Both InsideEVs and OutOfSpecReviews have done 70 mph highway range tests, one at sea level (New Jersey) and one in Colorado (Boulder heading North on interstate), Both were informative and as scientific as one can get on actual road conditions. These tests are done well and documented well.

1st Month KWh per mile - owner's results

My Chevy Bolt (honestly not a comparable vehicle) that I've had for 15 months has an all-in Miles/kWh of 3.93 and a GOM reported 4.31 miles/kWh. And I cannot discern any vampire losses. However, it does not have gear guard or other monitoring services that can consume energy. As a 1st half 2023...

Rivian R1T is Motortrend Truck of the Year!

I'm an R1S reservation holder. To me the most relevant comment in the YouTube comments is that the MotorTrend audience cannot buy an R1T today, tomorrow, or probably not until 2024 even if they reserve one today. And with a stated goal of a 50,000 annual production rate for both the R1T and R1S...
