There are several factors that can affect range - speed, temperature, wind. If I want to go on a road trip in winter when it is 20F out, windy, and drive at 80 mph, what range am I realistically getting on an R2? 180 miles since I won't drive to 0% SOC? That's only 2 hours 15 minutes of driving.
Yes, I am guessing your cars have degraded at least 20% from new. Up until the latest generation of Tesla models, Teslas have historically under delivered on EPA rated range similar to the R2.
What happens to the R2 range when it is 20 F outside and windy?
I have a Gen 2 2025 R1S Dual Perf Max and a 2022 Tesla Model S Long Range. They both have the same EPA rated range of 400 miles. My Rivian can travel significantly farther than my Model S on the same trip. About 15% more range. Some of that may be age/degradation, which is a topic that these...
Rivian put themselves in this situation by not launching with Lidar. A similar situation happened with OG R1 reservation holders when Gen 2 came out. Rivian allowed reservation holders to buy Gen 2 with OG pricing. Of course a lot of Rivian Gen 1 owners were butthurt.
My Gen 2 suspension behavior changed in the last update. It takes a long time to full settle from Kneel by making a lot of noticeable adjustments. I hope this is fixed in the latest update.
Wait until R2 comes out and SCs are even more slammed.
I owned a Model X when the Model 3 came out and Tesla Service nose dived hard (no appointments, sloppy work, damaged car). I am expecting something similar with Rivian assuming the R2 sells well. Book your service appointments now.
Saw this as well. My guess is this person is a non-Rivian enthusiast (enthusiasts are more forgiving). I can see a "regular" owner getting pushed to the edge with Rivian. Especially if they are coming from legacy brands.
Wow. Lots of improvements. I assume the lower height will be equivalent to Lowest. Love the ability to toggle it. Hope it can be automatic Kneel in Sport mode.
Wow. You received a lot of kindness on this trip that I would not expect. I recommend watching at least a few Youtube videos on how to road trip an EV and the tools needed. If you are going rural, it requires extra planning and preparation.
