Now I wonder if this was an LFP dual standard that suddenly lost power at some non-zero state of charge on the display due to faulty calibration as several have experienced.
Yes- sorry for the delayed reply as I am not checking this forum often. I do still have them. They are a perfect fit for the Gen2 R1S. Selling because I sold my Rivian. Unfortunately didn’t take photos of them fitted on the windows/windshield before selling the vehicle. You’ll have to trust the...
It sounds like you're pretty frustrated with the vehicle--and understandably so. Speaking from personal experience, if it’s reached that point, it might be worth seriously considering moving on. Sometimes peace of mind is worth more than sticking it out.
Sorry you’ve had to go through this—truly sucks. While we can’t change the past, now that you’ve gained some hard-earned experience from this mess, I’d suggest considering a third-party dash cam as a redundant backup.
Surprised no one’s brought it up yet, but all software is prone to failure...
Can’t tell you, but that was where my squealing was coming from turning the wheel more than 90 degrees. Crazy how many steering wheel squeaks everyone having. Poor QC coming off the line, improvement there would reduce the ridiculous service backlogs.
The other frustrating thing was a mobile service tech came to my home prior to taking it to service (it was actually towed there for a different issue, stuck in turtle mode - another nightmare of a story for another day) and spent probably a solid hour+ turning the steering wheel on my driveway...
Amazing - they are repeating the same mistakes on you that they did on my car. Horrible. Tell them it’s the steering column boot that’s not seated properly and refuse to pick up until the issue is resolved. Don’t drive it off the lot until it’s gone. They can be busy and not even do a drive with...
My service center (Costa Mesa) took over two weeks to figure out the problem after replacing steering column and modules. They tried to pawn it off to me as fixed, but it wasn’t at all. After a second visit, higher level service manager finally discovered the steering column BOOT was not seated...
No one said he is lying?
He reiterated what RJ signaled in 2019, which proved egregiously erroneous. And I’ll stop you there from making any comparisons to Musk, this is independent of what their competitors are or aren’t doing.
I am sure both are genuine in their statements. Am merely...
It would be great to see after photos.
it depends on your particular service center and the people working there when it comes to timeliness and responsiveness. Some are a nightmare, others seem reasonable. Unfortunately my service center was the former and was what ultimately broke the back...
It’s a side descriptor of the person making a claim about what Rivian hopes to do. Not the main point, but for someone that high up in company leadership I think it’s notable.
From the TechCrunch article: Hammoud of being “prone to irrational outbursts of anger,” incidents she describes as...
funny thing is Jeff Hammoud the chief designer with multiple pending lawsuits against him said almost the same thing in a very recent article as well. They must be really serious about the meeting you at end of the trail thing.
Relevant to those considering the Gen1 to Gen2 jump. Summary: Kyle loves Rivian but isn’t convinced the jump is worth it from his Gen1. He has lots of issues with this Gen2 max pack, most notably charging curve, but also crap premium audio and unreliable ADAS (never worked in the video).
Yeah. Some of the final straws were the car bricking in summer heat in some random parking lot with my sleeping 1 year old in the back with loss of rear AC, needing a flatbed to service (had fun taking one year old w a car seat home in an Uber), then service taking weeks to fix a steering column...
Fair point.
Basically about 8-9 years behind Tesla, which is still a relatively young company when compared to other established tech and auto.
If Rivian still around as an independent company by then, will likely see the refinements and marks of a more mature automaker. I’m out until then.
Furthermore, Gen2 has only been in production about 6 months, so definitely an early Gen2 adopter. They have lots of little glitches to work out with Gen2 still. They just *started* Gen2 winter testing as prominently advertised on their Ig account, which most manufacturers do before customer...
