These guys are inept. I'd really like to see some testing done properly using all the right tools of each vehicle and the correct (or better) techniques for off-roading. I'm certain both vehicles and particularly the Rivian would have done even better in those conditions.
The R1s should do quite well in Australia, especially the R1S - with the caveat that we're a much smaller market overall, etc. The R1T might work - we've got a long history with "utes", but not much with "pickups". Given the likely high prices though, the volume will be lower than those of...
With some re-engineering, you could probably do a 2 motor, dual axis type setup, spreading the wheels further apart - just like a "normal" vehicle. Just like the EVs, the base of the unit is the battery pack (or most of the base). Build everything on top of that.
I've seen a few pictures/videos posted of the vehicles that have "zebra stripe" like patterns e.g. like in this post: https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/real-rivian-photos-videos.885/post-82851
Is this just an arbitrary wrap or is there some meaning to it that I'm not aware of?
Given these are adventure vehicles, I reckon there should be a "drone package" - perhaps roof mounted, integrated with the internal display - which in turn is preprogrammed with all the funky camera modes you need to show off the car, etc as you adventure. :)
Re the peak charging - could it be the actual peak at the time of the EPA test vs what they might be able to expand achieve later? As in they had to use the "now" figures vs whatever they think might be possible "soon"?
I 100% do not like the looks of the cybertruck and it's not for me, but I think it's great that it's going to be coming for those that want it. I think it will do extremely well (sales wise) assuming there's no basic underlying flaw with it.
Right now, X vs Y vs Z is even more pointless than...
I'd be surprised if there's many 3rd party alternatives produced that aren't essentially just custom jobs. I suspect the market will be too small - it's just R1T and some, probably small subset (IMO) of those purchasers that will want anything.
Just curious - what didn't you like about it? (I have no opinion either way - just watched the very limited video). I wonder what price point they are aiming for?
Even with these delays, let's assume some other manufacturer's announce a vehicle that more closely matches the specs of the R1S or R1T. They're not going to be ready at the time of announcement. We're in a period of time where there's going to be significant lead times for almost everything...
It seems to me that you're likely to be waiting on whatever other vehicles are going to be turning up. There's such a large and growing demand for these EVs that supply is generally going to struggle for sometime for all companies to one degree or another. Those companies that master the...
It's probably going to be years before it's here in Australia. I'm hoping for a work trip to the US next year. Might have to swing by one of these hubs at that time. :)
Of course, hence the reason for a color calibration card used in photography, etc. I think we could then calibrate what we...
Those are some nice campers/caravans. I did stumble across the Dethleffs when I started looking into the idea of an electric trailer. I hope it and others like it go well.
For me, I've currently got my Subaru + a large covered box trailer that I use for various things. I want to be able to...
I made a post yesterday about trailers in the "Dear Rivian..." thread: https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/dear-rivian-r1t-wishlist-below.2352/post-72888 - I think an integrated trailer system would be great.
