I do the drive from Oakland to Truckee often. In the summer, I can make it with 20-25% remaining. It's very tight in the winter. Based on everything I've seen from the R2, you should be able to make it in the summer no problem, but cold weather may push you over the edge.

Sounds pointless based on that range estimation difference, which is why I presume they chose to not support this mode on the DM R1? But maybe they are including it on the R2 because RWD is nicer to drive than FWD?
I was taking a look at the R2 owner's guide and noticed it included conserve mode. Conserve mode notably isn't included on the dual-motor R1 as all purpose automatically it switches to single-motor FWD when efficient.

I think they must be more aggressively assigning VINs in advance of production completing. That ramp seems too fast to me at this stage. I would love to be proven wrong!

I assume your brake trouble is due to road salting in Vermont? The relative lack of friction braking makes salt related corrosion worse on EVs.
The other common failure modes I think are shared by me and most folks on this forum. I'm cautiously optimistic that the R2 platform addresses them.
the overall efficiency of 3.0 mi/kwh is what I'd expect for this spec. I have a feeling some folks with more efficient tires, better conditions, etc. will be able to push the R2 to ~3.5 mi/kwh.
and I agree that spacer lifts are trash compared to the real deal! I also think folks should just wait for the non-performance trim for the same reason you mention.
My rig before the R1T was a 3rd Gen 4Runner just like this — 3" lift with 33s. Felt comfortable on basically anything.
That got me ground clearance of just about 11" (measured at the diff) which is nearly identical to what you'd see with this amount of clearance added with this type of lift kit...
