Update 2:
The A2Z Typhoon adapter worked flawlessly on my first try at the nearby Tesla SC. This thing is really nice!
...And queue the irony:
Just moments ago I got the "Thank you for your address. We’ll get to work on delivering your complimentary NACS DC adapter in the coming weeks!"...
Update: My A2Z Typhoon PRO adapter just arrived, I'm pretty stoked! Like everyone says it feels extremely well-built: sold & heavy.
Can't wait to try it out and feel ready for more road trips and trailering.
(Edit: corrected A2Z adapter name)
Ugh, me: VIN 17xxx.
I was hoping to get the confirmation notice before a big September road trip, but based on these VINs I'm guessing another 15 months wait... Looks like I'll be buying the A2Z EV adapter, sans UL certification and Rivian's blessing.
Not so rare, I think. My camp speaker has also become unremovable. I hadn't tried it in a couple of months and cannot say if any of the recent OTA updates are responsible or not. I spoke to service, and they will not even try a mobile service; next SC appointment is in January... I hadn't...
Resolved!
After a fair bit of searching on their part CS was able to determine the discount applies, and adjusted the cost of my upcoming install appointment accordingly.
While on the phone, CS was initially focused on my configuration prior to 3/1/2022; in fact Rivian moved the spare tire kit...
Finally! Found the spare tire kit available in the gear shop this morning and called the number to order. Will be picking up the kit in a few days so I can get out there a little more 'adventurously' at last.
(Blowing steam) I have to say I'm still annoyed and am letting my guide know it...
Sweet. I'm planning to get the NOCO "Boost X" GBX55 (1750A capability) then.
The local building supplies store carries the GBX75 (2500A), but I don't think that bigger unit will have any greater benefit for this use case.
The trick will be to have it on-hand and not actually in the truck...
This sounded promising: I found that NOCO has added a newer "GBX" series that improves performance over the GB series. But I found all NOCO booster user guides have this to say:
I couldn't find the specification for the primary and secondary 12V batteries in the current user guide, and...
I finally checked out the wiring harness and found only leads for the light, without any accompanying lead for a 12v connection. I was surprised to find the light has a nearly foot-long lead.
I did not pull the frunk tub to look for more harness.
It may have come off that way in my own narrative, but the CSR was super cool, not at all snotty. They just pointed out that the only option to get the spare kit was through the gear shop, and apologized (to me) that the service route couldn't be helpful for this.
A brief follow-up:
A few days ago I filed a "Missing Full Spare/Service Kit" trouble report via the Rivian app, noting the limitations it puts on usability of the truck.
Soon after I took a call from a Rivian service advisor, who explained the CS locations don't stock spares to resolve this and...
Same.
I'm surprised annoyed this hasn't been addressed yet. We are getting anxious to use our truck more, but know it'd be pretty irresponsible to go adventuring without a spare tire/kit.
