Yes I should, but every time I ask something I get the same answer: “more details will be available in the future, stay connected to keep informed”. I was wondering if they info got released somehow unofficially and somebody in the forum fished it around…
In Europe we have a driving license limited to 3500kg, with a weight of 3160Kg for the 1S quad motor we just don’t have enough payload /passenger weight to make it a viable product.
Looks like the dual motor and it’s associated weight reduction is a more viable product here. Does anybody know...
Go one step backwards…. You need to stamp the body panels, you need different welding programmes and different painting patterns. And that’s no easy change, at least not when the tools are new and they are still adjusting …. I bet they are still validating the production of the R1S
Realistic charging times? If possible with different power input (50kw-250kw). The battery is massive so is critical to see whether they stick to the fast charging times
With a difference: you cannot buy a RAM from Dodge in Europe. Whereas Rivian announced they want to sell them here… Remeber in Europe we buy through brand dealers, always. Let me give you an example, the first teslas in Europe where ckd kits assembled in Tilburg (NL).
if you want to sell volume...
two words: import duties. By doing cdk you “make the car made in Europe” of some sort, reducing the import tax. In cases like this is also done to add specific items related to local regulations: rear view mirrors, lights, reflectors; and to perform specific regulatory tests. It would cost a lot...
I think they will start to sell small amounts of dual motor knock-down kits euro built. Why the dual motor only? Weight. With the quad motor you only have 350 kg left in your license to carry 7 people and equipment… not happening…
With the dual motor they can save some kilos (les cooper winding...
Yes…
let’s seehow Land Rover deals with the weight in their Range Rover and defender ev versions. I’m afraid the only way we can have big overlanding SUVs in Europe is by placing smaller batteries at the expense of range. That or wait 10 sor solid state batteries
?
that’s exactly my fear. Right now I use a discovery from 1999 for my trips and I would like to change it for the rivian R1S. But I don’t see how they will do it to sell it here in Europe. The car is very heavy and very few people will accept the trade off (or be in position to accept it - having...
You can call the thread Rivian in Europe….
I was waiting for the car for NL, but everyday I’m more sure we will never get it in Europe. Our driving license is for 3500kg, the R1S is 3150, which leave 350 kg for passengers and their equipment. Assuming 5 people each passenger can be 70kg...
