Charging when home only has 30A circuit

Buy an EVSE with a settable current limit. DO NOT rely on the vehicle to respect a current limit in software...the EVSE tells it what the max charge current is. I've been charging on a 30A outlet for years now and set the EVSE to 24A with no issues.

Nokian Hakkapeliitta 10 EV on dry roads

Not uncommon, sadly, to hear someone roll by in July/August with studs still on their car here in Colorado. For folks that actually live up in the mountains I get it, but anyone living in the city really shouldn't be running them year round. I ran Blizzak LT (studless) winter tires this winter...

Rivian cuts another 1% of workforce in new layoff (April 17, 2024)

Worked out really well in Jurassic Park. :P

2024.11.2 Software Update Released! => Release Notes: Send Navigation, Mapping, Charging Feedback/Scores + Rear Display Improvements + More

One change I noticed with this update...not sure if this existed in the past. Saw a reflection in the car ahead of me the other day and when the turn signal comes on now the opposite DRL and the light bar turns off.

Group Buy up to 30% | Suma Mirrors

While I love the euro-style convex mirrors, this is a massive miss and means I'm not interested. Dimming and anti-glare coatings are far, far from the same.

    Anti-Theft device

I'm fairly certain the hardware in current R1s does not support UWB. It's possible that the EDV does since the fob only acts on the door the driver is standing in front of. I would imagine that UWB will be included in the R1 refresh and R2/3 as it would really help all the PaaK issues we all...

2024.11.2 Software Update Released! => Release Notes: Send Navigation, Mapping, Charging Feedback/Scores + Rear Display Improvements + More

Funny you say that. I made a positive comment on one of their social channels about the update and seemingly got the push shortly afterwards. That was odd since I usually don't get the notification to update until after I get back to my home wifi and it's been through a sleep cycle. Makes one...

Rivian cuts another 1% of workforce in new layoff (April 17, 2024)

My guide still shows, but the contact info changed. Mine is now listed as the guide's name and West Guide Team with the email pointing to the team rather than an individual. So at least if they're reorganizing the guides they're trying to make communication a bit more seamless if they have...

    No software update this month?

It was not two releases ago. It was early November...my truck was one of those impacted. The fix came out two DAYS later, not two weeks. Also wasn't bricked...infotainment just didn't work. https://riviantrackr.com/2023-42-02/

    No software update this month?

Supposedly the 2024.07.03 release was specific to Canadian vehicles, so any US vehicles that were on .02 didn't need it.

    No software update this month?

That's...not how a lot of software engineering groups operate. There's a target date where a release is cut for testing, that's the date stamp for the release, and anything that is ready goes in that release. Features that don't make the cutoff get marked for the next release. If something...

My R1T is going on a 2000 miles trip and need advise on charging

TL;DR...use ABRP to plan your trip and validate chargers being good/bad with PlugShare. Hopefully the new software update on the R1 will help with charger scoring as well, but it's hard to go wrong with ABRP and PlugShare. I've done 2x 2000 mile road trips and a handful of shorter trips...

RAN Rivian Charging Stations Locations Map via Google Maps

Thank goodness! The Normal EA station was one of the worst I've stopped at because it was so damn busy and only 4 stalls. Kind of inexcusable that they didn't install one there sooner. Springfield and Oak Brook will be good too. I was surprised that western Chicagoland was so bad for...

Rivian needs to update software fix for backup camera freezing while backing out of garage (going from dark to bright lighting)

Looks like 2024.11.2 finally fixes this. Kinda went about it the only way I assumed they would. When you shift into reverse or toggle the camera the screens will stay in either day or night mode until you shift into park or otherwise change "gear". Worked for me both entering and leaving my...

    Question regarding Supercharging

3%?? That's nuts. Every trip I've taken so far the truck has been far too conservative. I told it I want to arrive at a charger at 10% and then follow it's charge to X% recommendation and I almost always arrive with more like 20%. Only once I looked at its estimate and thought it was on...

Charging Station Rating in new Rivian software update -- Wassym interview

Definitely curious about their algorithm and what info they're actually collecting...more detail than what was in either the OoS or State of Charge videos. I just looked at some of the stations along I80 in Nebraska that I hit in January and they were all rated A. Looking at recent PlugShare...

    Question regarding Supercharging

I ordered an A2Z back in early March thinking I'd have it for my eclipse trip, but it showed up the day I returned. 🤷‍♂️ Oh well, didn't have any issues, but would've been nice to have the adapter as a backup if I needed it. I was able to plan the trip in an area with decent charging instead of...

2024.11.2 Software Update Released! => Release Notes: Send Navigation, Mapping, Charging Feedback/Scores + Rear Display Improvements + More

Rolling out now! Finally back in the Day 1 release queue since 2023.42.0 too. Small warning, it took probably 25+ min before I saw any progress off of 0% in the app with this one.

    Locking Hitchpin that fits Rivian?

There is no cotter pin here. The left side of the pin is larger than the hole and the right side is the locking portion that locks onto the pin.
