i had a similar issue for a couple of weeks that seemed to start out of nowhere. It was a maddening jolt when slowing down at about 10-15 mph.
fortunately I tried a vehicle (not infotainment) reset and it went away immediately.
I had issue a couple of weeks ago driving in the SW. temp was in the high 90s and was driving for a bit on highways in town (not towing though) in the middle of the day. Decided to stop for a DCFC at Rivian station, and all went well, even getting 220 kW speeds.
Then I start to drive away and...
That station has been under construction for 1 year now. The transformer was finally installed a few months ago but they canāt seem to get the stations turned on?
Just wanted to give an update with somewhat happy news.
Picked up my R1S over the weekend, and the SC said that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle mechanically. The notes state "RIDE Programming and Calibration (15 minutes)".
From what I understand, over the last few software updates...
I'm sorry to hear about your issues. My R1S had something similar at about 9500 miles this past weekend. It was my rear motor that had the issue, but I was able to drive about 60 miles home at highway speeds. It's been towed to the SC now and awaiting diagnosis.
Good luck with the repairs...
Thank you! I ended up calling the support number this morning and got a really helpful person - Dwayne. We got a tow scheduled for Wednesday and they got me into a rental in the meantime. He followed up to make sure I got the Lyft credits to get to the rental office and give me more...
Thanks for the note about the 10k jump. I've never bought an extended warranty on any vehicle before and typically haven't kept any beyond 7 or 8 years. Starting to consider the extended warranty before I hit 10k. But also considering either a new Gen 2/3 when this warranty expires, or move...
Thanks. Iām surprised that they thought a mobile service appointment would be able to resolve this, unless the vehicle diagnostics show something that they arenāt telling me.
Waiting for a Rivian human reply after the weekend.
That was my thought more than once while driving around town today. It was like driving in chill mode and I really had to step harder on the accelerator to keep up with traffic. Or maybe driving in conserve mode all the time?
Thank you!
It didnāt quite feel like a rumble strip and felt more like the rear motor just stopped working.
But I will bug them for an earlier appointment because it just doesnāt give me a great feeling that I can continue driving for weeks before it gets serviced.
Just curious if anyone else has had this issue.
It happened to me on a drive back home on the highway from a camping trip last night, in a 2024 Gen 1 R1S. I had it in ACC, at about 80 MPH, and then heard a clunk, and the turtle mode icon and the one with the 4 wheels showed up. It was...
Yeah, I owned one until we got the Rivian.
The software worked, and after 3 years, we got maybe 3 updates. Each one was to provide the ability to get future updates. The first had to be done at the dealership, requiring almost a weekās wait.
The other two actually were OTA.
For the most...
From a slightly different point of view, I believe that Rivian doesnāt have any buffer in the batteryās capacity. So 100% is really 100% as it is with Teslas.
Charging to 80% is probably fine, but even with 70%, you get over 200 miles of range, which for most daily use, is more than enough...

Looks like Rivian did their part, and just need PNM to install the transformer.
But I suppose that now that theyāve removed the fenceā¦. s00n?
Havenāt had these adventures in our Rivian yet, but had 2 close ones with a Tesla Model Y:
1) Towed a teardrop trailer approx 120 miles each way. Pre-tested towing on shorter trips, and planned it perfectly in ABRP. Going there, made it with lots of battery to spare⦠coming back, well, didnāt...
Thereās no rhyme or reason. My delivery was 05/24 (yes, 2 monts ago). I got the confirmation email on July 2nd but didnāt want to rub it in everyoneās facesā¦
In my experience, the non-salt ones donāt actually work. Idea sounds good but seems like a scam. They still left hard water spots on my faucets and shower. I ended up ripping mine out and put in a salt-based softener. But I use potassium pellets rather than sodium.
