Tesla FSD Full Self Driving & Rivian ?

Reading lots of comments about how terrible FSD is. Iā€™d remind folks that the FSD in cars today is very very different than the FSD in cars at the start of this year. Iā€™ve got over 1K miles on the latest FSD during the April trial period and Iā€™d say itā€™s pretty freaking great. It is pretty clear...

    Rivian Solar Charging

Iā€™ve been playing with this idea recently. I have a small diy off-grid solar shed situation that I needed to relocate. Before I setup the panels in the new location I did a soft fit on my R1T. I was able to fit 300 watts on the racks on the bed, 300 watts on the roof, and 300 watts on my diy...

Tesla Driver calls Cop on Rivian Driver

Not sure taking up two stalls for 5 minutes while struggling to get a Tesla to J1772 adapter to work on a Tesla SC is the right thing. The Tesla owner also didnā€™t do the right thing and instead of yelling he could have politely pointed out the idiotic and potentially dangerous situation the...

Tesla Driver calls Cop on Rivian Driver

LOL right. Honestly, I'm not sure who looks worse, the Tesla owner freaking out about a Rivian charging at a Tesla SC or someone using a J1772 adapter at a Tesla SC who then shares the story online and the fact that they don't know what the F they are doing.

Ford "PRICE WAR" drives RIVN under $10

Is the XLT trim an off-road trim? If not, you shouldn't be comparing it with the off-road / 20" wheel option on the R1T. The comparable R1T is dual motor, standard+ pack, with 21" wheels at $73K and 315 miles. Thats much more of an apples to apples and 7K under your 80K threshold.

Ford "PRICE WAR" drives RIVN under $10

You can already get an R1T with 20" wheels for under 80k. Lots of them in the shop. With a standard+ battery a dual-motor R1T with off-road package/20" wheels goes for $76,850. The 280 miles range of the standard+ is pretty much the same as the quad/large-pack with 20" wheels.

Rivian testing new Driver+ (Autonomy Experience Module) -- stops by the FCC

Not sure youā€™d want to use amazon as training data for your AI. Otherwise drivers+ going to be stopping and double parking every 10 houses expecting you to get out and deliver a package ;)

Tesla Model Y price slashing again, and the future of RIVN

Itā€™s a great deal for a solid EV. I picked up a RWD Model Y when they were discounting Q4s last year for <41K. People shit on it here all the time, but I frequently take my wifeā€™s Model Y over my R1T all the time šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø. Great car and loving the 1 month trial of FSD 12.

NACS Adapter reservation emails are now going out!!!!

very different situation. It costs a lot to have iPhone level manufacturing. They can do that because they sell millions of iPhones all year, every year for >$1K each. These adaptors will be a one time mass manufacturing run to get adaptors made for the CCS EVs on the road today, then this...

NACS Adapter reservation emails are now going out!!!!

I'm vin 18XXX and don't have much confidence in getting the adapter this year. I assume all OEMs are getting inventory for the same source. Supply will be tight. I'll order the Lectron before my next road trip and sell the Rivian one when it eventually comes.

    Lost all internet

Came here to see if it was just me or widespread. I did a hard reset earlier with no success. I have full bars but no connectivity. Interesting enough I just tried in my driveway while connected to wifi and still no Spotify or alexa. Doesn't sound like an AT&T issue if wifi doesn't work also...

Cost was a reason for charge port location on R2 / R3 + other info in RJ interview with Electrek

Cost being the reason for the rear placement makes total sense. Putting it on the passenger side because itā€™s diagonally opposite of R1 port makes no sense. How many R1 owners plan on replacing g their R1 with an R2? The entire reason for the R2 is to get it into hands of the masses that dont...

Strange noises when accelerating and stopping. What is it?

I took a look and see if my half-shafts were loose. Iā€™m not sure what itā€™s supposed to feel like, and I wouldnā€™t call it ā€œloose,ā€ but the passenger side half-shaft did have slightly more play to it when pulling on it vs the drivers side which had almost zero play. Very very slight. I assume...

Strange noises when accelerating and stopping. What is it?

Iā€™m getting two somewhat similar noises under two different conditions that Iā€™m trying to figure out on my quad motor R1T. On rare occasions Iā€™m getting a rapid knocking noise during hard acceleration. Sound is mostly coming from the front. I donā€™t get it every drive and sometimes it will...

Is this the R2 spotted in the wild?

Zero chance they will move the charge port to passenger rear. So this has to be a fake. Think of it logicallyā€¦why would they design a car thatā€™s incompatible with the pull through RAN? Also, with the move to be Tesla SC compatible, if you are moving the charge port, why make it equally difficult...

    Minor damage repair estimate: $49,880!

I'd also pocket the 50k and take it to your high school friend šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

100% would pocket that 50k and take it to a PDR shop.

Rivian crushed by tree in California storm

not to make light of someone else's tragedy but I couldn't resist this group text with my parents/siblings. šŸ¤£ Was too perfect considering they knew I got my trees trimmed just 2 weeks ago

Powered Tonneau WILL be available as RETROFIT in 2024 (per Rivian Guide). This is HUGE!

Considering it took a year to get you what should have been a pretty simple accessory (planks that you manually slide) I wouldn't wait for a retrofit (a significantly more complex add on). My bet is there will be zero retrofits (for those that didn't already have a powered cover) actually done...

Rivian doesn't cost less to drive on long trips

Depends a lot on where and how you charge. I finished a trip and spent $200 on charging. At $5 a gallon and 20 miles/gallon I would have paid $287 in gas. Free overnight charging at a hotel or airbnb isnā€™t uncommon, which could have massive impacts if you plan right. When was the last time...
