The EVPlay powers on while parked if the car is woken up by proximity or an app command (ie turning on climate control).
Alexa commands do still work while the screen is on EVPlay, the car doesn't really know that the screen has been taken over.
$700 for a cooler that is:
1. Ugly
2. Unpowered
3. Weird shaped
4. Ugly
5. Needlessly heavy
6. Might sever my kid's fingers accidentally?
I can see why Tesla is able to sell this to people they conned into a Cybertruck
The GPS antenna will also allow Waze and other nav apps to run natively on the EVPlay vs CP/AA which I'm sure will be a smoother experience. I plan to add the GPS antenna once it's available for my Gen 1
Strong preference for CTRL-Bar style for me. The more OEM-ish looking the better. A couple of knobs for temps/volumes, and as many customizable function/macro buttons as will fit!
There should still be an easy mechanical backup on the rear doors like there is in the front. Imagine trying to remove a panel to find the hidden release while the car is on fire. Or imagine your friend or a kid trying to find it to get out. Horrible design.
TLDR: The R1 regenerates a significant amount of energy when using ACC to control speed, so I believe it does use regenerative braking despite the brake pedal moving upon slow down.
Background: Since the R1 was launched, owners have observed that the brake pedal moves as the car slows when...
Would love to have a row of buttons (beside/above/below the screen?) that could be configured to whatever function we want. One touch pet mode, frunk, lift gate, quick nav destination, rear row vents, etc
Alex posted in the EVPlay forum on June 5th that they were beginning to produce the beta units and that production units would begin shipping "in about 3 weeks".
Yeah it seems crazy that Rivian would program the ACC to forego regen for friction brakes when they believe in regen enough to not let you turn it off. I wonder if they could be using regen but also "preloading" the friction brakes for faster reaction for an emergency stop.
Are we SURE that it's actually using the friction brakes? If you put any pressure at all on the brake pedal the brake lights on the R1 model on the driver display light up, even if you're not slowing down.
When Openpilot (or Rivian ACC) is gently slowing down and showing regen, the brake pedal...
