Took my R1T in finally for my redesigned powered tonneau replacement. They did that and a bunch of other stuff like half shaft replacements. Got the dreaded call from service saying they found lots of rat/mouse dropping under the frunk and tons of main cables chewed through. They ordered a...
The reason teslas don't park side by side in stalls is that two adjacent stalls are served by 2 chargers that share power (1A and 1B, 2A and 2B etc). The Tesla vehicle UI tells you that it is faster to charge if you are not parked to someone who is using 1A if you wanted 1B. It just slows down...
They should give out an inflatable Tesla with the adapter so we can use our air compressors to blow up the inflatable and put it in the spot that we are blocking to avoid the disappointment of the Tesla driver who carefully backs in only to find there is not cable available.
Absolutely not. However Rivian said they will be providing proper adapters for the Tesla superchargers once the agreement with Tesla is finalized and they figure out billing and the digital handshake with the supercharger. They said sometime after March.
? That is what I am hoping and I agree that Hawaii should be an excellent EV area. Lots of sun, lots of solar, expensive gas, short trips. The Rivians should be perfect as you need 4WD for a lot of interesting places.
I am in Kona now looking to buy property and definitely bringing my R1T over since it has proven very reliably for the last 15 months (save for the busted Tonneau). Have not seen any Rivians here yet, but seen lots for Ford Lightnings. Saw a bunch of Rivians in Maui last month. Very cool...
Also anybody in San Diego received the fix? I was the OP on this thread as I was one of the first to get the email that it is happening soon (Back on Oct 13th) but have not heard a peep since. I am 1.2 years in on loving my truck but have never had a functional tonneau since it was disabled on...
That is awesome news indeed. Would have been better if it was the San Diego service center but I am very happy for you. I think we got our beautiful blue R1Ts about the same time last November with DOA PTCs. Good luck and keep us posted.

The picture is from the Self Realization Foundation farm land (known locally as Swamis) in Cardiff-by-the-Sea, CA. We harvested winter squash today.
I got the same email on 10/13/23. Crickets ever since. Glad you started this thread as it would be nice to hear if at least one person has been scheduled for the PTC replacement. My one year anniversary of my delivery with a DOA PTC is tomorrow. Would love to have a working one.
New Product concept: The R1P - Its an R1T with a built in Portlander who runs outs and pees on your headlights when they are gooping up with with slushy snow. He lives in the gear tunnel (better than his current housing) and knows how to get out. Win/Win?
@domoplaytime, are you the limestone R1T in Kihei? I saw two of them this week. Looked like different drivers. One with an electric foil surfboard on the back toward Makena. I also saw a blue R1S. Supercool! I am looking to buy in Kihei and ship my R1T here, or get a second R1T for this...
Just saw a beautiful Limestone R1T driving toward Makena in Maui with an electric foil surfboard on the back. Driver had a big smile on his face. Very cool!
I have a R1T and my wife has a Model X. I find the R1T to be the superior vehicle in all ways. And we both hate the falcon wing doors as you cannot open them in the garage. However, we have free supercharging for life with the Model X and the Tesla network is hands down vastly superior to any...
The wristband was only for "Launch Edition" vehicles. They said it might one day show up in the gear shop but don't hold your breath.........unless you are ducking under a wave.
Strange. I also pickup up mine in Nov 22 at San Diego where they deactivated open as well. I think I was one of the first to get the email on Friday as I started this thread. It's likely going to be a slow rollout as the service centers are already so busy. Who knows how they pick to order...
PTC has passed its field tests and Rivian will reach out to people with open tickets starting next week on a rolling basis and service appts will start by the end of the month. Woo hoo!!
