I too am in UT, in the snow (dry and wet) daily in winter with my R1T QM 20" rims and drive up/down Hwy 158 Powder Mtn Rd--one of the steepest state highways in UT with an average grade of approximately 14% over 5 miles. I was really not looking forward to navigating this 7k lb beast in winter...
This snow mode update has increased my trust that Riv is listening and being as responsive as possible. I am celebrating b/c this will keep me on the list for my R1T. I also like the "trust but verify" moto especially when the snow mode validation needs to occur for those of us in snow country...
On my test drive recently I too had multiple experiences with prolonged descending where the regen "broke free" thus requiring braking (vs regen decelerating). The road is long and steep (10% avg over 7 miles) and is snowy for 4 mos when I navigate it 3-4x/week for work. I agree, this is...
Interesting…thanks for the link and some sense (albeit naive sense) that it can be done over the air. I should open up a guided ski tour at PowMow for Rivian big hitters on our pow stashes and then have them drive down the county road so this issue garners the attention it desperately needs...
Thanks….we are in the same situation, however, I still do not want to manage the brakes with zero regen as it is a very long and steep downhill from PowderMtn to the valley floor. I want a e-truck that has low low low gear via regen. It sounds like I am really naive as to this possibility...
Awaiting R1T w/20” wheels here in Utah snow country, but am seriously concerned for those of us navigating the snow covered, paved/continually plowed, downhills that get reloaded with snow regularly during storm cycles— i.e., the exact time I will be on these roads. Without regen or the...
Thx BJ… still awaiting valid R1T (20”wheels w/AT tread) delivery date here in UT. The Wasatch Mtn folk need to swamp the forums and local service center with demands to optimize for “snow/cold”. I drive the Powder Mtn road for winter work and trailhead access teaching Avy courses so reliable...
Did a little geometry math and up to 188cm skis should fit flat on bed on the diagonal. This works for my quiver but would have been a no-go if skis did not fit
