  1. Will Refresh Include a 240V plug?

Having a 240V output is available on all the other EV trucks. So, this might not be a money maker, but it might be one of the default options that buyers are expecting. Also, I remember RJ saying in an interview that they realize it was needed, but he may have been referring to having an...
  2. Tesla recalls all 3,878 Cybertrucks over faulty accelerator pedal

You're correct. I was accounting for the months twice. (Doing the math in my head was a fail :( )
  3. Tesla recalls all 3,878 Cybertrucks over faulty accelerator pedal

Approx. 10 per day. Maybe not so bad for such a new vehicle platform?
  4. Tesla recalls all 3,878 Cybertrucks over faulty accelerator pedal

I guess we know how many they've delivered produced delivered now too. How many months of production do they have?
  5. Rivian Hotspot not backwards compatible for WPA2 security

Not all phones can share a hotspot while connected to a separate Wi-Fi network. I've only seen this in the last couple years. My Pixel 6 can. But, if yours can, then it's up to your phone to route the data correctly, which it probably would do.
  6. Out of Spec seemingly confirms R1 refresh in about a month

I don't think he's speaking with any additional knowledge than what's already public. They're shutdown for most of April doing the refresh for cost savings (and possibly other feature) updates.
  7. Rivian testing new Driver+ (Autonomy Experience Module) -- stops by the FCC

I would agree that recent updates to FSD (Supervised) have improved the performance greatly. I now can use the Autopilot again (not FSD, just using TACC has been too unreliable until recently), the phantom braking is much reduced. In normal conditions the FSD (Supervised) does reasonable things...
  8. Electrek - "Tesla Cybertruck teardown shows battery pack is ‘half empty’ and we are confused"

Looking at the video, it looks more like it's like 20-30% empty, not 50% as implied by 'half empty'. There really doesn't seem to be space to have another cell on top. I think the best idea was to be able to put different cell design within the same exterior package. Or maybe they were able to...
  9. 🤔 Impact of a heat pump on R1 efficiency?

The above answers are what I was expecting as well. Even if the heat pump uses half the energy, it's still not using that much energy in the steady state. I wonder if the effect is greater for shorter trips. The initial heating of the cabin and battery uses a lot of energy. This would mean as a...
  10. R1S 22” Tire Load Index??

Thanks for the detailed reply. It took a while to mostly understand your numbers. I'm not sure what standard this is for, but to calculate the normal load, you use Table 1 that says 3 passengers for a 7 passenger vehicle: Designated seating capacity, number of occupants Vehicle normal load...
  11. Standard pack R1T DCFC curve

    https://rivian.com/support/article/what-is-the-usable-kwh-capacity-of-your-battery-packs
  12. Standard pack R1T DCFC curve

The SP is advertised as 106kwh. Not sure how that effects your calculations.
  13. R1S 22” Tire Load Index??

So, the 94% is only for SL tires? And the /1.1 is for both SL and XL?
  14. R1S 22” Tire Load Index??

I'm very confused by this. Is it saying you divide by 1.1, then multiply by .94 to get the approved rating? Wouldn't that mean that the 116 load index is too low?
  15. Upgraded the sub in R1S with aftermarket Alpine SWR-T10 Subwoofer

I like the idea of using the 120V outlet to just drop in a home theater sub into the trunk! :) Certainly not the cleanest solution, but for certain use cases, it can be the 'best' solution. :P
  16. Tri-Motor and Premium Trim added to R1 VIN database

It's interesting that they don't specify battery in the 2025 VIN, but did before. And based on what we're seeing with standard packs seemingly with large batteries, I wonder if this is their innovation to use less parts to make more products.
  17. Standard pack R1T DCFC curve

This is exactly the same as the DM Large on 21".
  18. Tri-Motor and Premium Trim added to R1 VIN database

This is clearly the case. And it makes sense they want to be profitable in 2024 Q4. Doesn't make sense to me. I mean, they seem to be okay with selling large packs as standard packs. I think the assumption in all this is that the VIN decoder only applies to 2025 model year vehicles. Are they...
  19. Standard pack R1T DCFC curve

This is all very interesting. I wonder if they do plan on making a battery pack design change as part of the shutdown (as alluded to in an interview a couple months ago) that will allow them to make the cell chemistry change to have a real difference between the LP, SP+ and SP. Very possibly now...
