I wonder if we'll hear in the May earnings call an updated timeline for R2?
Given the total freeze on rare earths export from China, I can't imagine there is enough materials in the pipeline to maintain without a slowdown of some sort. I hope they start out with transparency about it...
Thanks for the reply, LIK.
I expect I'll continue to miss these events if Rivian has voted me off the island and I don't use FB. I'll look into the RCA but have not been a part yet.
I've not found this forum to be as compelling lately but perhaps I can make it a point to check this board more...
I think you have rightly identified the biggest obstacle to Rivian's long term success being their atrocious approach to vehicle service. I too have been beating this drum for years and - aside from a glimmer of hope when Seattle opened a temp SC - I've not seen any improvement.
Our T has...
Alternate take; chimes like this actually reinforce inattentive behavior because they make it less dangerous/annoying/honkable to behave badly. Now, you get a head's up when your inattentive behavior is blocking traffic, meaning you may as well doomscroll for the 15 seconds of the red light...
I was out of town on Spring Break so couldn't have made it anyway but...is this forum the only way we might have heard of this event? I didn't get any emails from Riv that I can see.
I was trying to remember what I had guessed as total production of ClusterTrucks. A year later, as we now know they've sold <50k of them in ~16 months, I'd say my 200k estimate will come in a bit high over the life of the vehicle.
Seeing that even Tesla doesn't want them ["I checked in with...
Anyone heard any updates on release date for R2? Are they still targeting "late 2025?"
I expect that will get pushed back but then I saw some comments that they are trying to push R2 and 3 forward by producing it at Normal while slowing the buildout in Georgia.
Anything more concrete?
(I'm...
In the ~24 hrs since I posted this, there has been:
- a Site Sponsor posting a video of himself launching a Chevy EV over 70mph in a 40mph zone (rural residential 2-lane street)
- a whole thread of people celebrating 'driving it like they stole it'.
I think my point stands...
I believe there are only 3 states where rural interstates have a speed limit of 80mph. All the rest top out at 75 or slower. I don't think most people going 85 are talking about driving in Montana of South Dakota. Maybe Nevada but in Vegas, the speed limit is 65mph.
And, even if the speed limit...
Not THAT cold in PNW but last year during our big ice storm, the charge port flap got frozen shut requiring using my propane heater for ~30 minutes to get it open. Then, the next day I had to repeat the process to get it closed again.
There was a whole thread on Reddit about this over the...
Based on what I read on this here website, my impression is that Rivian drivers are entitled to drive at least 10mph over the speed limit.
I can only assume that we must suffer from immense cognitive dissonance while driving 80+mph and still worrying about efficiency.
Some folks said PaaK went to s**t because they made changes to reduce vampire drain.
As a data point, my T lost ~2% per day over 9 days (51 - 33%) while I was out of town over Christmas. No Gear Guard, no waking, outside in cool but not COLD PNW.
I was seeing more like 0.5% / day for most of...
I've also found PaaK to be nearly worthless since about 2 updates ago. Now it does nothing about 80% of the time, leaving me standing in the rain fishing for the fob.
Also just had to change my fob battery for the 2nd time in 20 months which seems excessive.
Tennessee is 44th out of 50 states in funding education per pupil.
That sounds like a lot of generational debt to me, even if it doesn't show up on a balance sheet.
Use fees (i.e. gas taxes and registration fees) make up 50% or less of road maintenance and construction costs. This is a farcical discussion on its face.
(As is, 'bikes don't pay taxes either!!!!' and yet even in Oregon, there is now a bike tax on new bikes over a certain $ value. )
