The QuickR is definitely a better rack, but they don't make a roof rack version that uses the T-slot like 1Up does. I switch mine back and forth from being a crossbar mount vs hitch mount so the 1Up is the only option. Unless I'm misinformed, which would be a nice surprise.
Can you point me to the discussions around this? The #rivian and #hw-unofficial channels are pretty busy so I couldn't find anything good. I'd be super interested in a 3d printed mount design as I've been toying with the idea already.
How much of a step is there with the door open? I have the OG Goat sliders but dig these and am optimistic that they would be enough of a step for the 3 times a year that its needed in my R1T.
I have a preorder for a topper that was originally in the August delivery window. I guess now we are just in limbo. Team_GFC, any update on the topper schedule?
I agree with the person that you’re replying to; the Rivian experience is just as bad. My current solution is to not use the built software at all. I use it for cameras and drive modes very occasionally. If I need directions, I find them on Google/Apple Maps and put my phone on the dash mount...
Mine has also gotten worse. After two years, I now have wind noise in the passenger triangle window and on the roofline where the sunroof starts. Plus I now have a dash rattle in the speaker, a rear door that rattles, and creaky gear tunnel doors. Hoping to get service for all of these items s00n.
Ok, I think I get it now. It's the "feet" of the crossbars that are the widest point so even though you can't see it, that's what is being staggered. And the gap between the middle two is the width needed for the "feet" to not interfere with each other's placement. If my understanding is...
Can you talk more about that? If I use the bottom two "rungs" for my crossbars then they have to be staggered? Do the crossbars not shift left and right at all while moving?
Do you have any data on the load that this can hold when using the upper and lower bolt bosses?
I've noticed that mine keeps the doors (and I think tailgate/tonneau) locked at home, but if I have my phone with me I can open the frunk and the gear tunnel.
Yeah, who knows. We all know that Rivian doesn’t have a great track record of consistent responses. Lol. I just wanted to provide my alternate anecdotal data. ?‍♂️
My cover (VIN 50XX) had worked perfectly for nearly two years now and I’ve never had a ticket open for it. They called to schedule replacement in early February and replacement was completed in late March. So they are retrofitting, at the very least some, working covers proactively.
Edit to...
For what it's worth, I've been watching for you to continue working on these since I first saw you mention it.
Definitely interested in this GFC version as well though, pending more details.
I split my living between Seattle and Salt Lake so I drive this route (one way) something like 6 or 8 times a year. I think I've done it 6 times since I got my R1T. I can say that I've never had any problems reaching my destination, BUT I've had a couple of times where I've had to wait for a...
I was thinking about this, and I wonder if it would be possible to leave the ball off and just have a hole for the bolt to pass through? Then people could add whichever size ball mount they want/need by getting a through hole ball. Even easier if, instead of using an M5 nut, it were to have a...
