I had let Electrafi's connection lapse so I don't have hard data on the historical vampire drain, but I don't recall noticing anything out of the ordinary.
I've now re-connected Electrafi to closely monitor it. In the truck, I've unplugged everything which was only a Magsafe charger and the...
Repair follow-up:
The service center reported that the battery connections were under-torqued, causing a bad connection. The batteries were also discharged, so they were replaced (I'm now on Battery set #5)
There's no real root-cause of:
- Why/how could the mobile service tech last Thursday...
The thread title is a little sensational (although true), as I'd optimistically separate these into two separate instances. But this latest set is problematic.
Instance 1: (12V batteries #1 and #2) After R1T delivery in September 2022, bricked after ~6 hours. It took two flatbed trips, a...
Since we're still in the "wild speculation and crazy projection" phase, I'll add mine:
- When this fix requires a mobile service visit that can't be scheduled for weeks, I'm going to demand as "compensation".... CarPlay
( /s in case it's not clear... well, mostly /s )
Here's my proposed solution (Rivian, you out there listening?):
Subaru has a "PIN to access" feature that you set, where you push the rear hatch button the # of times, it beeps, then you move to press the next # in the PIN. It's time consuming, but it's intended for emergencies like this...
I've always been paranoid about a redundant way of starting my car, so have used "hide-a-keys" in the past, and the Mach-E has a nifty PIN keypad and emergency startup password you set and type on the screen.
Has anyone thought about an equivalent 'hide-a-card' device and place to keep the...
6800 miles so far, and no other problems with the truck. (well, the gear guard cable never locked, but I consider that a minor thing, and they fixed it)
I got to test out the EA network and the Barstow RAN chargers on a recent trip from the Bay Area to Utah and back. Some random lessons & thoughts:
- EA chargers are hit or miss (more miss this hit). Read Plugshare reviews to try and target ones that have recent good reviews.
- Example...
Update 9/14 afternoon:
The truck was flat-bedded to the service center yesterday morning, and they got it up and running by the end of day. I picked it up this morning.
The service advisor as well as the work invoice stated, "Found a ground terminal loose", and that after torquing it...
Update Monday 9/12 afternoon:
Mobile service came out and replaced the batteries. The computer came up, but the HV battery won't connect. He checked and the next steps must be done in the service center.
He disconnected both batteries so they won't die and said to reconnect them to get...
Update 9/10 Saturday, late afternoon.
It was flat-bedded to the service center on Wednesday afternoon. They worked on it Thursday and Friday where they replaced:
Sensor, 12V Battery, Intelligent, Primary
I thought to myself, "hmmm.. they didn't replace the battery too - oh well, they're the...
I took delivery yesterday afternoon. Drove to lunch, home, then over to a friend's house for dinner. Went to go home, and upon pressing the brake pedal got a ton of errors ending with "service now".
Calling support they thought it was a PAK issue (even though I had the FOB with me). After a...
