Had a meeting in San Diego and as a Gen 1 owner was curious about the Gen 2, so I found one on Turo and rented it for the day. Turns out Brian the owner just got it (still has plastic on the instrument cluster!), but his employer just informed him he has to move out of country. He's looking for...
Via Bluetooth for now, although there may be a future world where either myself -- or someone much more knowledgeable about audio systems within the EV Play community -- develops a device that can interface with the Rivian audio system directly.
With that said, one thing we need to explore is...
Full agreement here. I think as a feel-good side project it's fine. But what disruption is hoped for here? Golf carts? Scooters? Segways? Inter-city transportation is a highly competitive category, and certainly not ones investors will get excited about. Although, one of the pictures on social...
Normally you could tap in to the trailer plug but from what I have read here it doesn't get power unless you actually have something plugged in to it/are towing something. Which disables some features like Driver+, etc. Those with with more experience can chime in here.
Very cool, thanks for sharing.
FWIW, AT&T and T-Mobile's main 5G frequencies are low and mid band, which are not strictly line of sight. You are getting 5G signals indoors, right? Still, 4G is plenty fast, reliable, and ubiquitous.
Also, those that use their phone as a hotspot and have at...
Correct, load times are slow when switching to certain screens. I feel like they could cache them better, perhaps, but what do I know. It doesn't affect all users, are perhaps they don't care or notice; but others do:

I do have strong opinions of the Rivian UI, but not the aesthetics. My issue, if you read my post, has to do with usability. There have never been consistently smooth transitions between any of the major infotainment screens, since day 1. I would much rather have a smooth UI experience than...
May or may not be an popular opinion, but I feel this is a classic example of form over function. The current UI lags transitioning between screens, most likely because the system is using valuable resources to render spinning wind turbines and birds - things I could care less about. Another...
To clarify, I'm not really asking about the customer-facing side of the legality here. I'm asking about the recourse a car manufacturer has against comma's hacking of its software and hardware IP. Recourse that is either criminal or civil.
The fact that they haven't been sued by a car...
White hat vs black hat, big difference. I would imagine if you hacked in to any of the 3 letter government agencies, but didn't do anything with the data, you would still be facing serious prison time.
I'm truly fascinated by this and glad to see a 3rd party working on improving the current functionality. I am curious though...they use terms like "hack" and "man in the middle attack" which, outside of this use case, would normally be considered illegal. Not sure if you know, but has comma.ai...
Any of you back out of a driveway and turn steering full lock on to the street, and feel something like wheel slip coming from the front driver wheel? Realize this is 4 wheel drive but it doesn't sound completely normal. It's almost as if something is lose but can't see anything. Not sure if it...
I have seen a few threads outlining some successful constant & accessory fuse taps on the driver side. Anyone find the same in the passenger side fuse box? Any guidance would be very much appreciated.
