If you're reading this wishing it was free Chilewich floor mats near Leavenworth, WA, for an R1S - I got you covered.
Mine are never used because my Rivian All Weather mats arrived before I picked up my vehicle and I swapped them right away.
Now, Tuggles, what did you upgrade to, that you like...
This guy is missing another big opportunity for views:
"Rivian second row seating may have a serious problem."
"I wanted to see how the second row is configured for passengers, so I reviewed some pictures, and sure enough, there are seatbelts for a center passenger!!"
Sometimes...
Rivian's R1S was the first across the finish line with a 7-seat electric SUV available for me to buy in 2023. I had a reservation on the Volvo EX90, and I was also waiting for the Kia EV9. Those didn't arrive in time. Now there's several but I am very happy with my R1S Gen 1.
I have a...
As others have pointed out in this thread and also here, there are TWO DIFFERENT adapters for NEMA 14-50 to TT-30 and they LOOK IDENTICAL. One is for appliances/RVs and the other is for EV chargers.
At some point, the electrical engineers from USB must have contributed some ideas to the AC...
I hope this does a sufficient amount of its processes on board the vehicle. Gemini on my (Samsung S25) Android phone appears unable to do many simple things without an internet connection. (Cannot play/pause Spotify; cannot read last text message; etc.) Even the things it *can* do are...
Everyone on this thread is the same: they want to own what Rivian sold them.
The difference: some think Rivian sold them the paint and everything inside it on the day of delivery. Others think Rivian sold them an ever-improving, perpetually "best in class" vehicle that would continuously gain...
Don't use the wrong TT-30 adapter!
Quick Campsite Charging story: I plugged my R1S into a 30-amp campsite outlet and the charger threw the Red Light at me. Turns out, I was using an "appliance/RV" adapter instead of an "EV" adapter. Others have described this.
As a usability hobbyist, I am...
I have one of those windshield covers with loops that hook around the mirrors. That thing was fantastic for my old winter adventure car, a Subaru Outback. Almost never had to scrape. Now I just turn on climate control from my living room.
I will try your alcohol trick, and then try replacing my wipers.
I drive in the PNW a lot also. My 2023 Gen 1 R1S has the following 3 levels of windshield wiper 'automatic-ness' : 3-bars = Automatically wipe 3 seconds after visibility is completely lost due to rain accumulation; 2-bars =...
Me trying to figure out how to use the Martingale Convergence Theorem to decide whether my Scout ("80% of repairs can be performed without having to go to a dealership.") will be ready before my Rivian warranty runs out.
👆 This. A few physical buttons, maybe a knob or two. I would use for HVAC adjustments.
[If you're not interested in an old person ranting about how we had it "back in the day" then skip the rest of this comment.]
[Also, I really love my R1S but I am honest with myself that a few design...
THANK YOU for this thread, for the fuse panel diagram, and for the photos! I just installed my buck converter for dash power using the parts posted by @Polar. I found an M8 bolt near the dead pedal with about 1.5cm of exposed threads. I used a ring terminal, star washer and second nut on that...
Yes - my R1S came with a pouch of that kind of fix-a-flat stuff. Small form factor & doesn't require brute force or a drill. Appealing, though I am concerned it will gum up the TPMS sensor. Did that happen for you?
Me too. Here's what I found: The dollar bill trick
Basically: after patching the bicycle inner tube, if you need a way to prevent the tube from bulging out the hole in the tire when you reinflate, wrap the patched inner tube in a dollar bill at the location where the tube is going to be pushing...
