After a couple of weeks monitoring the supplemental 12v charging I'm seeing a consistent 0.44 Kwh/day consumption use by the 12v charger. If I let the vehicle sit, after 3-5 days the Rivian display will show 1 Kwh of consumption, but I'm not sure how to interpret that since I see no drop in...
Mine is a single battery, so just connected to one. No need to open the frunk. The cable hangs from my garage ceiling a few feet off the ground (as does the primary charging cable), so connecting and disconnecting is quick.
I'm a few days into keeping the 12V battery topped off with a trickle charger. I'm tracking the consumption from the trickle charger as well as normal loss reordered on the Rivian. After 3 days the Rivian finally showed 1 kwh loss. Adding in the consumption of the 12v charger I averaged 0.7 kwh...
At least that proves that it's possible. I wonder if I could install a physical kill switch. Seems like disconnecting the 12 volt system could do the trick, but I imagine it would create all kinds of error codes.
The vampire drain is my biggest complaint about my R1S. I lose 2 to 2.5 kwh every 24 hours regardless of what settings I put it in. I would love it if Rivian developed a setting that would allow you to fully shut it down. Even if that ment a longer process to power on for use later.
I haven't fond a good option for the antenna either. For now I'm planning on running the cable out the top of the rear door and placing a magnetic antenna in the middle of the metal portion of the roof between the two panes of glass.
I actually haven't taken delivery yet. Scheduled for...
I'm planning on installing a 50 watt HAM radio and am trying to decide if I have to go through the firewall and direct to the 12V battery or if I can get away with tapping into the fuse box. Does anyone have an opinion/recommendation on a fuse to tap into from the passenger or drivers side box...
I'm in the same boat. My underbody protection was removed a couple days ago. I was planning on using the 21" for road trips and a set of aftermarket 20" for snow and mountain. My solution is to stick with my same plan for 21" and 20" just be nervous when I drive over large rocks.
