I just carefully drilled a new hole in plastic shaft for the clevis pin and reattached it like the original. Seems to work OK until inevitably breaks again. Rivian sent me a whole new cover which I might sell and put the money toward something better down the road.
Looks like gaffers tape helps a lot. Running blue tape 1/8" from the plastic edging and then running a thin fillet bead of black caulk (cue SNL skit) along the plastic edging would probably work great and not be noticeable. Once dry, you could cut the joints with a razor blade. I may try...
Rivian cover leaks a lot! No leaking in the middle of the cover but the edges leak like a sieve, especially if the truck is parked off camber. There is no sealant between the panels and the plastic edging that slides in the track. Water leaks through this joint and runs down the sides of the...
This is a serious issue that I think is really going to hurt Rivian's success. I'm waiting on an appointment in April 2024 to fix a leak in the air suspension and some other stuff. Totally unacceptable. Service wait times were bad when I got the truck 1 year ago and are obviously getting way...
After the widespread failures of the powered tonneaus, you would think there would be extra pressure to at least get the manual version right. A year later they come out with this? This had to have a team or engineers create it, people approve it, test it and produce it. Did nobody along the...
You'll see when you get yours that unfortunately the problem isn't the packaging, it's the cheap brittle plastic that they used for the edging, latch etc. and poor engineering. If something can't survive a trip to your house in a nice padded case, inside a cardboard box, it's not going to hold...
The manual tonneau cover is a total joke. I love my truck and think the engineering is amazing. But the way the this tonneau cover is designed after taking so long honestly makes me question how things are being run in the company as a whole. I received my cover several weeks ago and first...
I previously had the Riviparts Ram ball mount that was an ingenious idea. It was wiggly and finally fatigued, probably due to the longer Ram arm used to get it above the steering wheel. I made this attachment plate out of 1/16" x 2" aluminum which is easy to cut and bend. The center screen...
I had a Gen 2 Raptor before the R1T and have ridden in Gen 3 Raptors. They're great but I disagree with a lot of the comparison. One point is the interior quality. The Rivian seems way nicer in quality and I'm going to predict durability. My Raptor seats were failing at some seams at 20K and...
I'm not bagging on the HD mat. I actually just went out and bought another one since they
they're cheap and I don't foresee having another oil spill but I don't think all rubber mats would react this way to oil. These are made out of bonded together rubber chunks, probably old tires. Kinda...
I had this HD mat for four months and it did great. The one thing that killed it was an oil spill. I had a jug of used motor oil that tipped over and leaked on the mat causing it to expand and crinkle up where the oil spilled. I'll probably get another or try a horse stall mat if I can find...
Nice work! What Beta is that? I have a 200 but I've been eyeing a 390 lately. I made something similar for my tundra years ago. I'm assuming the 5 places are for hauling two bikes or three at a time. Have you done three at a time. Do they fit? I did in my Tundra but even with the bigger...
Bf3-
That's awesome. Nice work! Definitely the best I've seen. I'm guessing this is as good or better than what Rivian comes up with. In the non-tonneau trucks like I have, It would be cool if that stack of panels could be stored in the empty space cubby where the factory tonneau lived. Your...
AxelR,
Really? Saying US drivers don't know how to drive MT cars and then accusing me of flaunting wealth and driving ability just because I was trying to defend I that understand proper driving techniques. You knew I'd "pull the 911 card?" Do I know you? BTW, I paid $7K for my 911 back in...
Agreed that trail braking on ice is a bad idea. That's the problem. With substantial regen, any lift on the throttle induces braking. If the turn has started at that point, you're trail braking. That's what I don't like. Again, I'm not talking about cooking corners too fast on ice or proper...
Interesting. My snow mode regen honestly doesn't feel that different than normal regen in all purpose. Slower throttle response is definitely noticeable though. I'm really talking about fairly low speed turns on really slick compact snow and ice. Surface street/neighborhood/driveway stuff...
I was excited for the snow mode update and the low regen setting. Totally made sense. The more I drive on compact snow in my area (Snoqualmie Pass, WA), the more I think the regen is still way to high. When on snow and ice it should really be like an auto transmission amount of minimal engine...
Just got my R1T a few months ago. Also have a '23 Telluride Pro X. Ordered them at the same time, got the tele a few months earlier. $2K over sticker. Tele's great but people are excited over the value not that it's more special than a 20K more expensive SUV. R1T is truly unique and...
Mine had a few panels alignment issues, the worst being the driver gear tunnel door which stuck out proud. Glaringly obvious when looking through the rearview mirror. SC did a great job fixing but also chose to adjust the pass side. Somehow they dinged that gt door in a spot that is...
Retrax for the win. That would be awesome if true. The longer Rivian takes to get a tonneau, the bigger and more worthwhile the market gets for the aftermarket. It will be interesting to see if the Rivian manual is just 4 slats with no party trick like becoming a table or something. If it is...
